  • Hipper AA ship

As a random idea i started arming my Admiral hipper with km 40's on the r slots and HH on
the t slots and have found it to be very effective especially the large calliber AA with
lots of shells to burn. I was wondering if anybody had tried this setup or if anybody had
any thoughts on it.

Best AA ship by far, no questions asked.

Moltke, use a combo HE/AA gun on the R's, u can find some very long range AA guns.

Use c/32's on the T's for spamming down bombers, and the R's for screwing up fighters and
scouts out of ure spam range.

Play it tonnes and get realy good at switching betwen the R and T's, u see a bomber squad
coming in, smack em with 1-2 savlos of ure R, switch to T and spam whatever is left of them.

and dont forget u have HE, love other high level ca's thinking ure an AA ship without HE,
or subs thinking the same.

o and dont forget to pop 255 bludge or stuff ure BB5 crew on it and get 57 knots!

Hipper / PE / Moltke are exellent support ships. In blitz you should use the second
set of 8inch L guns, but Hipper/ PE/ Moltke are valuable support ships in GB. I use
5.0 km/40s in the main gunslots and Hedge hogs in the T slots. While the Emden
and the Moltke have great AA they do suffer from lack of ammo in long fights (you
can have 1500 in Hipper/PE 2000 in pcas per gun). They are also limited to the 3.46
guns.

While leveling up 5 new pilots I went from Emden to Hipper to Prince Eugen to
Moltke in order to use a ship at pilots level. While using the PE, I did 13,000 credits
in planes shot down for 32,000 exp for level 46 pilots. Thats more than doing
100,000 damage in a BB4.

When using HHs, dont charge out to the middle like some retard, wait near the front
line BBs for the subs to appoach. Use either another sub to spot or DD/FF. Mostly
you have to wait for them to fire torps because most DD/FF charge to middle as fast
as they can and die in 45 seconds. So wait for them to fire then drop HHs on them.
Moltke csn use 5 HHs a side in T slots. Make sure you use Grad fire with HHs.

The gneis can do without, since its speed can give it the attack opportunity it needs.

H39, in a way, if you reach 42 can do without, but its still better to go 40 with the AA.
But still, I ran my H39 AAless cuz I had loaned my AA to a friend for a big part of the
grind and I did fine enough. Sweared a couple time where I'd have liked to blind a BB5 tough.

using AA in any km ship(with the exception of bismarck at higher lvl) is absolutely vital

and as hipper has large enough R slots, i think using 5.9 duel D set normal gun works for
AA as well
(but then it loses the km reload advantage)

I grinded through hipper/PE stage also with KM40s in the R Slots and the 5.9x1s in the T
slots (against some random neut ships) and I have to say that it was working fine.

It has 4 R slots, that is plenty of barrels with the KM40's. I use them on the Mpro
and have recently switched the AA on the T slots of my Moltke to KM40's on it's R
slots, way more effective with a massive 2100 shells per gun while having great
range.

@ Andy: Not only does the Z99 carry better AA guns but with its greater displacement, ammo
capacity, and speed it is by far the best dedicated AA DD. Someone as high of level as
your self should know the benefits of using the 5" 40s over the 3.46".

if u want a DD for that, go on the first Z-DD with 5 turrets and 2x3.46A
