Okay, thanks Kin. I haven't been around much in the last while, so I can't really remember what changes were undergone in that patch.
Anyway, I've been experimenting with new setups in GB2, and I have to say that the Gneisenau with triple 11"Ls (second set) fares quite well if you have good engineers.
I'm using 5 engineers with bases of 8, 10, 10, 11, and 11. I have a scout (obviously). In the T slots I equipped two repairers of 10 and 11 base respectively. Then, of course my main gunners and my BO.
The engineers are between L86 and L97, all with at least 100 vets The scout is 102 (and ghosted) The gunners are L103, base 12/10 with 130 vets The bridge operator is as ghosted as is reasonable The repairers are L95 and L96 respectively (as above listed), with at least 100 vets I have 5 binds of LHE ammo and 1 bind of AP ammo
I can fit 0.2" belt armor and about 58 bulge and still go 49 knots in OH with all three guns fitted.
Long story short: A fast ship with nice OH time is very hard to hit and can nearly outrange a chasing L2. Enemy BBs tend to focus on you since you appear to be rushing, while the BB456 from the line destroy them.
Pick up 30-100k attack, finish off a couple BB456s, run down the flag, shared exp system, and the rest is history. I was making 40k experience on a consistent basis despite the large difference between crew level and ship level. Not a lot for a serious player, but more than plenty for the casual gamer like myself.
If you have the crew, you should try it sometime.
