Im trying to start a IJN SS but there are no guides for me to use:

What Crew should i have?
What should i expect from the Subs?

I would have thought someone would have made a SS guide by now...

Try this guide:

two level 100+ engineers
level 80 planesman
any sonarman
two torpers level 70
maybe a level 100+ repairer instead of gunner

Enter battle
FFFFFFFFF
dive
FFFFFFFFF
space
space
FFFFFFFFF
win

Please click on the the sticky at the top of this thread. It is far from complete, but the
basics are already there.

Good day.

Personally, I suggest leveling a Battleship line first (not as IJN), with this experience,
you can understand what is expected of a SS player.

As far as your questions go, Since I only have a SS3, I can only tell you that IJN subs
are slow, slow, and very slow. They have a nice damage output, and ok speed with
a very high level crew. It's gennerally known that IJN is the best anti-BB nation for
subs.*

+1, don't make the same mistake I did....I decided for IJN cuz ther sub's look
cool...but considering I enjoy sub vs sub more...the T4 is just useless crap -.-

IJN subs are like slow turning tankers...just a heads up :D

cheers

Check out the post labeled IJN SS -- I wrote it because you are right there needs to be a
SS guide. I will try to refine it as time goes on.

Ignore Megadone below. He must not be a very good SS driver.

Only correct way to do this:

Level a BB line first. This way you get good engy's. Then level your SS BO (only Class him
as national sailor) and torpers/planesman till SS3 or maybe even SS4 levels on a BB. Then
enjoy the game of 0 skill required.

LOL Angus!

Most experienced players are seemingly obsessed with subs ;-)

Other then your BO,sonar, planes, and two torpers make sure you level up three engys for
when you hit the Hei Gata.

As Angus suggests (kind of) I'd simultaneously bring up a IJN gunline crew as well,it will
make leveling easier on you in the long run.

Also if you do a search you'll find a bunch of threads on IJN SSs in here too.
