18" have HE is less effective in term of ignoring armour.

Go test with a L2 7,7" deck. You will see the 16,5" will cut through deck while the 18"
doesn't.

You don't have the H44, so you can't say thing like this. It's not because of the
shell caliber that will necessarly determine if it will cut through or not. The shells
weight, ap bonus are also factors that can either be a benefit or not.


Do a test with a 20" gun kaiser, ask someone with UK/USN with 7" to 7,5" deck you will see

shells getting bounced at 37 for sure.

Agree with most previous posts but also concider that 18's ignore almost any opposition
armor, 16,5s don't ....

I might have signed that off to dumb luck, except for the fact that 1shotting a H44
would only yield 55-63k.


My personal biggest lulz was not with H44, but with H39 oneshotting an Iowa.

16.5 at least can be counted on to give 35-37k salvo regularly, with a decent spread.

18" damage goes from 20k to 45k, and sometimes decide that staying together is for loserz,
and all go their own way, while other time they'll dry hump each others like mad rabbits.

Kinda sad ain't it. The 16" suck but the 18" suck even more ... so instead of the
question being "which are better", maybe it should be "which is worse".

Well, kinda. They have a huge max damage but in about a week of playing I never managed
to top 40k more than a few times even against other KM ships or even IJN.
