Try 4 engis and a seaman, I have heard that this combination is a bit better than 5 engis.

if in doubt you need 6 engies, rest reps. add a medic if you like.

make engies all vbe, elite if you like.

FFS just try to imagine what he could be on about. Is that so hard?

@topic
There is no "best" obviously. With "at-lvl" engineers you need as much
as you can to be fast. This means you have to chose between speed, AA
and repair. You don't need restorers. So yes, get rid of the restorer and
try to buy engineers, although I doubt anyone will trade them 1-vs-1.

Later on you'll be fine with less engineers. It can be speed-capped with
as less as 2 engineers. But by that time you'll have a H-39 or higher too
and they will require the additional engineers just like the Bismarck does
now.

I grinded through the Bismarck without using AA. This way I could train
5 engineers and 2 repairers. Also I already had trained my AA gunners
before I even got the Bismarck, so now I use them again in my H-39. It
also may depend on what you play. In GB(2) there's usually small stuff
and friendly CVs killing enemy planes/scouts. In BB rooms having AA
would certainly be a very good call considering how good KM is in it.

I know, you'll probably think "oh noes how am I ever gonna get those
supports?!" Start a 2nd BO associated with the additional supports, grind
them through the other BB line and when they hit O Project II you should
be ok on both BB3. (Remember for next nation to start with 2 BOs right
from the beginning to lvl your support sailors ahead of both your BOs to
avoid this problem.)

tl/dr:
after all you'll want to have 4-5 engineers, 2-3 repairers and a good pair
of AA gunners. Can't use all of them at once but you'll need them later or
depending on what/how you play.

Rrrriight.
Forget the engineers and repairers, they are for beginners. Those people just want to fool
you.
Go with 8 restorers that have high AAW bases. You will totally pwn everything.
Glad I could help.

FFS kids these day are lazy; clicking on a stickied thread and reading it is far too
tough, as would be reading the last line of Ober's post and forming an opinion of your
own; let's just resort to demanding answers like a child.

I'm bored, so I'll spell it out for you:

Run 3 engineers, 2 repairers, and 1 scout --OR-- 4 engineers, 1 repairer, and 1 scout.

I say "OR" because you'll likely want to get as much speed out of your Bismark as
possible. Seeing as we don't know the base/stats of your engineers, we cannot tell you
whether you can speedcap the Bismark or not (there is a very nice sticky by LordKelvin on
this topic). It is unlikely that you'll speedcap the Bismark with an at-level crew, so I
would personally go with a setup that gets you a reasonable speed and a reasonable SD.
This would indeed entail getting rid of your restorer and picking up an engineer (or
three), as you'll eventually hit the SD cap without a restorer.

NECESSARY:
1 scout
4 engies (some run 5 but I'm not convinced-minimal return)

The rest whatever you want. I don't carry restore. I generally carry a medic on BB (I hate
losing vets...). I get plenty of repair carrying 2. Bottom line is the last couple of
spots are personal preference.

It's not complicated given the advantages and necessities that come with running KM.

You're asking on a forum where opinion from people differ a lot base on their play style.
That's the danger.
