if your only gona play gb's then a 4ftr 4db is the most versitle. if you plan on joining a fleet and playing in tournys or HA's then 8ftr and 2db would be good.
cv's can use sonarmen and wouldnt be a bad idea, as you may be flagship 2 sailors (ie power leveling dp gunners) or gunners if you want to rid flag kilin subs medics dont seem to do much with the last patch, and would never be used in tournys or HA's anyway hardcore cv's use up to 3 seaman with high ftr bmbr stats, minimum 11/11 or 10/12 (if you havent raised the yellow 14/10 sailor yet can be a good all around seaman) 1 restorer wouldnt hurt but wont do much till 80+ or buy one already there.
high level ftrs can be sold for alot of creds so may consider raising couple extra if base 12 or prem. a 12/11 or 11/12 ftr/bmbr stat ftr is worth your weight in gold.
ps. everything but ftrs (and dp's of course) should be classed on time. hard to say if sde will ever fix the crew growth penalty on ace pilots so its a coin toss on classing above fighter, so class on time or dont class at all for ace. current ability system would be to only class as fighter.
