Im running full crews at the moment all being raised nicely. 2 lvl 39 gunners both
have 130 experts and 40 vets. Same goes for BO, restorer and a repair man. 2nd
repaiman of lower level around lvl 25 coming on necely too. My torp men have very
few experts since I keep trying to convert to Vets and I dont need reload anyway.

Ill prolly have to cut back a bit on armor as crew levels up or mabye go to 1 side
launchers but I believe torps are more valuable than their weight in armor.

each torpedo launcher is 128lbs I believe for the 5x12K damage. I run 4 torps thats 500
lbs. .1" of belt I believe is what 130 lbs? So I lose .4 inches of armor not that bad. And
there is a reason I unload all my torps from the start, that way I won't be tempted to use
them.

When I got my Brook at first I loaded up with torps but later found that dumping the
torp launchers for more bulge and deck got me more in the end. Like mentioned
earlier, I was always fiddling with my torps and getting pounded and eventually
pwned.

who says my gunners aren't good? I have level 49 gunners wiht 125 experts and about 40
vets each. I just use torps as an extra way to amke money money. I mean if you make a
decent torp wall you'll catch 2-3 DDs in a blast, thats like 600 credits right there.
Then you can rethreat to a safer distance and use CL tactics.

All I have to say is ANY upper level player will laugh at you for using torps on a CL...
and at the same time will be kicking your ass with 2.5 sec reloads on trip 6"

Hmm... 3" Deck, 2 torp crew, 2 gun crew BO...1000 tons worth of torp tubes...I think
u might be using discount crews....and u will pay for that later on one range matters.

on my Brook and now my cleveland, I only have 4 torp launchers.

Brook torps are 4 aimed left, and 4 aimed right meaning you need a 180 degree turn to shoot off your second line...very wastefull,, so I just load up with just 4 tubes, and the rest I save for armor.

The clevelend is a lil bit better in TW department. There are only 6 torp launchers, but the angles are better, and you can carry the 5x(12000 damage torps). So I can still have my 4 torp launcherson board and instead of a volley of 16 torps, I have a volley of 20 torps.

The way I see torps is a course of luck, I shoot off a torp wall before each battle begins so that I can catch the 1-2-3 DDs that couldn't avoid them. Getting credit, then I just switch to guns and don't both with torps.

Like that guy said, you'll spend a lot of time fiddling with torps and will get oyur ass kicked while you turn them around and aim them properly

Oh And another thing why can brook anly have 1 set of torps per each launcher?

Theres plenty of space for more torps but I can only fit enough torps for 1 shot per launcher. Its making torp guy pretty redundant since theres nothing to reload.

Oh In all my gloating I forgot to ask can torps be dropped in gradual mode to spread them out a bit?. I keep forgetting to try and when I do Im too rushed to have time to switch to gradual.

I'll agree that torps on larger ships are a good idea, and I'll also agree with SWPIGWANG that it's easy to get tooled by an attacker while you're fiddling with your torps. I've watched a lot of people just seemingly sit there and not fire while I'm dealing damage -- they're just waiting for those torp tubes to aim up.

As a lowly DDX I've farked over plenty of CL/CA when the opportunity arises. Using the 5" 38D's I have a terrific reload time but terrible range, so obviously my only course of action is to charge in and start pounding away -- it's not that bad making the charge though because the bigger ships can usually only fire off a salvo or two before you can get close. The angle of rush keeps your ship's profile difficult to hit.

Only torp spreads keep the barbarian DD's at bay when you're in a CL/CA.
