Having over 14 inches of belt can be nice at times as long as you can still keep the ship
above 35kts and you can drive it proplerly. It's certainly worth some surprises and can
get you out of a few bad situations since splash damage is almost non existent with
that kind of armor.

***why would i armour my alsace, it has not enough ammo to begin with, and you want to cut it
down by another 33%. ***

He told me it was much more effective.
He was also stating about the ammo space issue.

BB1 play speed is better. 0.2 Armor belt nothing else.

.... OMG LOL O.o

0.2 belt cuts torp damage by half. From 0.2 to 24" the reduction is linear and has a 65-
70% reduction with 24" belt. In other words thats less then 1% torp reduction per 1"
belt extra. If you ask me thats no worth it at all. I prefer the 3 more knots of speed
than 3% torp reduction.

Deck is ALL or NOTHING tactic. Your a BB1, you won't even bounce bb1 guns with 2.0"
deck. Like I said your a BB1, if you get in range and u are slow, you WIL DIE!!!. BB1
need to constanlly try and get in range, and to do that, you need speed.

MN are small ships, a speedy small ship is harder to kill then a sitting duck BB that can't
bounce shells at max angle.

And AW alsace...wel no comments....I prefer SW alsace... 47 knots is just awesome...

Indeed it is effective in NY, since not much people use AP.

Sorry to squash your "only UK can be an AW", but my alsace is armored and works great. My
win loss proves it being this an only french account. Ive tried the three gun, but the 2
gun aw is just way more effective. Charge in and out, 9.5 inches of deck and kick some A$$.

the boat on front has 8 19" guns and when you charge that first salvo is devastating. Add
to that, your small stature really works to your advantage.

there are three drawbacks to the Alsace: turns slow, low ammo, and even with lvl 120, 200
vet gunners its spread half the time makes you want to slap the dev's.

"When you get to .5he defense. It maxes out at almost 80% reduction in torp damage. (Tested by
Mods). So carrying Belt is way better than buldge b/c it doesnt get blown off. It is
always their.
"

So where is the thread about that?

All I know it danitas thread about torp damage with belt and bulge which you can find on
the link below and which shows that 0.2 belt is most usefull and that even adding insane
amounts of belt will not get you anything near being sufficiently armored against torps.

http://www.navyfield.com/board/view.asp?Num=111353&Sort=D07&Order=re_upday&PageSize=20&Page=1&SearchPart=title&SearchText=bulge&Ctg_1=&Ctg_2=&Ctg_3=&Mode=ok&Page2=1

And about general armor:
OK lets say even small amounts of armor can help you bounce certain shells at certain
calibers (with more armor defending from bigger shells at greater impact angles). Still
its more or less AW or not AW... everything in between will decrease the overall ship
performance... and as I said before: MN BBs cannot be armored sufficiently... so take the
nessecary amount of belt and some bulge and save weight for speed.

I agree and disagree. Armor is NOT the all-or-nothing concept some people think it is, but
it is fairly close to it (Because in a BB, all we really care about are enemy BBs' shells,
so they base the all-or-nothing idea mainly on BB shells).

It is all or nothing in the way that 2" of deck won't do squat.
But, if you do have a decent amount of armor, then you can reduce armor severely in
certain conditions.

Take a KGV with around 9" of deck armor. It will completely bounce 15" and under guns
(usually, there is always the random belt hit with some guns). However, you won't always
bounce 16" on BB4s and 5 all the time (and nearly never at a 45 degree angle).
HOWEVER, in many situations, the BB4/5's 16"+ shells are not at 45 degrees, but not low
enough for your armor to take full effect. These shells will only damage the KGV for a
total of 500-1000 DP (50-100 DP when 900 SD is taken into account).
