Ahhhhh The Midway!

I grew up around Her during my High School Days when She was Station in
Yokosuka, Japan. She would always part at Berth #12.

I even Had a Part time Job for Local Ship repair company and help Touch paint under
when she was in Dry Dock 6 back in 1986.

My Old Man was even station on her and also went on a Tiger Crew from Sasebo to
Yokosuka when I was 13. All the Kids who went on the Crews Mustered
everymorning and cleaned/ worked with the sailors. I even remember we had couple
GQ execises.

This was my first time to fire a M16 off the side of the hanger elevator with the
Marines on board.

The Food was good and they even had a 24/7 MidMac joint they made where sailors
could get sandwhiches and burgers anytime since the ship was always running
doing flight trails.

I will try to look for some old photos and try to scan them and put them on here, I
know for a fact that there is a Year book of the Midway when My Old mans serve
some where in the attic.

For a battleship I would suggest USS Missouri or Mighty Mo as she was
known that is anchored at Ford Island in Pearl Harbor. Right by the USS
Arizona Memorial.

That was a real interesting tour to take

Also if you go check out the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum

As I live in San Diego and from my office I can see a portion of as I type this, its a
great thing to see up close, and personal.

Amazing when you walk it and then go on the Nimitz and see the difference. Of
course you cant compare the two ladies, each is a beuaty in their own way.
