you should have at lest 3 fighters, 3 enign, 3 bombers, BO, restore

if you like spending actual money then use fighters or torp bombers
if you dont then use dive bombers

3 BO all at CV 4 for the moment
8 Fighters
6 TB
5 DB
1 Scout
2 Seamen, when i think i have to grind something i always do 2
2 Medics, Which i dont need due to latest patch they were to reduce crew deaths on
planes shot down
Any other supports i can pull fromm BBs or Sub

US CV? Let's see...

BO - Potential won't matter since the possible CV guns all have rather short range but its
nice to have a BO with good repair-restore (unless you want to ghost him)
Fighters - 5 is the minimum 6 is cool. Make 8 if you want to FW (US are the best at FW).
Bombers - 2-3 if you want a balanced CV 0 if you FW 6+ if you BW
Seaman - Needed for FW Look for High Potential with High Fighter growth.

You may also:

use gunners (usually reload gunners are best for CVs)
use restorers (best to use them in gunner slots since you need pilots more then guns)
