I have both L1 and Vanny.
AA guns are quite heavy.I don't like using a BB going slower than OH39knt,and if i
put on AA gun to go39knts,i'll have to put off almost all armor to do so,including
bulge,so i don't put AA on.I think using UK BB4s(both L1 and Vanny)
without AA would be better.AAing also disturb you from shooting the enemy BBs.In
coclusion, i reccomend not to put on AA,HH is much more useful.
And AW or SW?I like fast ships as i said,my L1 can go 25/42with1.x"deck,it's quite a
nice SW ship.My Vanny goes 23/39with 15"guns and a little armor,it can'r go as fast
as L1.However, most people i see in UK BB4s are AW,and you know they are slow
and hard.

4 slots on the lion for aa (per broadside) means 8 shells, its effective but not to great.
UK's AA's advantage is damage and decent range, so its good at shooting scouts down.

Even with the slow reload i think UK aa is cool, but the biggest disadvantage is the
weight of the AA guns.

Those 5.75 AA guns dont come light... its 250+ per turret + ammo I think (for the RP10's,
which is what I use)

Armorwhoring, fitting crew on, and using AA is near impossible on L1.

If you run w/o armor AA is an OK choice because of the only 4 per side turrets. Good for
shooting off scouts but you may lose 1-2 knots overheat from the weight or take about 20
less bulge that you normally would (considering you take bulge)

Thats my opinion. Some people prefer vanguard, Ive only played lion, cant give you any
advice there. Maybe vanny has more turrets/displacement for AA, not sure.



edit; right now myself since i play great battle rooms im using hedgehogs, id rather have
44 knot overheat with hedgehogs then 42 knot with AA, I seem to have trouble with subs
more then I do from scouts or bombers. I may switch.

sometime i put 4 hedgehogs on my aw L1, as my rear gunner is free to use them.
i have to renounce to a 0.1" deck (from 10.0" to 9.9")
yes, it does mean some difference in bouncing , u will have to rush a little more
to force ur enemies to lower their angles...

it's an added option to defend against subs.

AA or not AA... well, aa gives some bonus to experience which helps to
have more exp at the end of battle. dont expect to blind ur enemy with uk aa,
apart some scouts, u arent able to kill a whole squadron of fps like km aas...
