I personally skip the SS1 and head straight for SS2. At least in the SS2, you can have a
formidable chance to fight higher tier subs to protect your team in their line (which btw
the KM specializes well in this role.), watch out for friendly fire though.

If you're looking to be a BB killer, you might want to try other nations instead or wait
until SS4.

However, the KM SS is the most feared sub the anti-sub ships and even other subs are
afraid to tackle on, mostly because of it's combination of speed, devious turn rate and
proximity torps.

Typical ss1, If you get past the kita torps and ss start pumping out mines, they only
take like a second to reload and bbs cant see them, a buddy of mine owned
montana with mines from a km ss1.

ijn ss1 does 19/20 on surface and 17/18 under water

SS1 is just slow there is nothing that can be done to help that. Most people dont use
armor on subs, definitely not for SS1-2 you NEED to be as fast as possible in SS1-2.
Many recommend lvling past SS1-2 on a surface boat. If your not going to do that you
need to deal with the SS1 being slow, its easiest to play as defensive SS protecting
your BB line from other SS's. If you chose to cross over to the other teams BB line then
you must know that your air will run out as soon as you get there, so hopefully guessed
right and found something to damage. SS2 is much better, its still best used as SS
hunter protecting your BB line. Search KM SS and read what can about KM SS line
theres alot of good info out there about the subject. Long story short SS1 is very hard
play just grind it out (above or below the water) SS2 is much better.
