  • Tashkent vs Leningrad

Wrote something on my guide about these DDs, want the public to give me some
opinions on what I wrote.

The choice between the Tashkent and the Leningrad would be the first question
almost all players would face, as they are quite different ships with only a 2 level
difference.

The Tashkent is more of a gun ship with powerful guns, and less powerful T slots
than the Leningrad. This ship would be much more competitive in rooms where there
are more skilled opponents than the Leningrad. I suggest this DD to players who
either will play DD and DD/CL rooms, only have 1 set of gunners for future ships,
players who generally like a more powerful main battery than to rely on torpedoes,
and any newer players who decide to start playing NF as the first nation they play..

The Leningrad is the other DD you can choose. It is much more similar to some
Japanese DDs, which are meant to be played with torpedoes as their most powerful
armament. This ship would be better in Blitz and modern GB/GBII rooms due to the
amount of T slots, while being worse in a gun duel. I suggest this ship to players
who will go on to the submarine line, have 2 sets of gunners for later BBs, and
players who like to use torpedoes over powerful guns.

For CV players, I personally recommend the Tashkent, as pilots can only use
torpedoes until level 25.
For impatient players, please see what I recommend and not play the Leningrad just
because it is a lower leved ship. Always begin with an end in mind.

Yea, a lot of levels are changed. Check out the sticked topic with the USSR ship tree for the
most up to date ship tree.

And yes, I will be redoing this section a few times before the next release of my ship tree.

It's spelled Чапаев/Chapayev.

Actually, what I've said may sadly no longer hold true; looks as though the most
recent patch on the test server raised the level requirement of Chapayev from 25 to
29. This may simply be an error, however, as most graphic ship-trees which I have
located do still list it as being attainable at level 25. Take this one, for example;

I'll write something for the Chapeynev (or how ever you spell it) tonight.

The only thing 'against' the Tashkent (or Leningrad), in my opinion, is that Chapayev
comes only one (or two) levels later, and remains crew-level relevant many levels
higher; mounting anything (from any gun Tashkent can mount, plus one) up to the
triple six-inch turrets which are not bettered by the modern line-up prior to the Kirov.

Simply put, the Tashkent offers;
R: 75 x 3
T: 34 x 4
DP: 8100

Whereas waiting one more level for Chapayev will avail;
R: 140 x 4
T: 52 x 4
Aircraft: 130
DP: 8000

It may still be worth having both (DD and CLE), however, as the Chapayev performs
more like a destroyer at-level, whilst more like a cruiser with the triple six-inch turret.
(that is, if you want to retain a ship configured for destroyer/anti-submarine tactics).
