Again, copy-paste from my SN guide/ship tree; and again needed opinions on it.
Unless you're hoping to get an APA, this is the second choice at level 32 you have to make. The Bogatyr is at level 32 , while the Svetlana is at level 34. The real question, is do you want the KK, the Rurik, or the Shch. As I have described in my introduction, no matter where you're heading, you should be going towards your final goal. If you've decided on the submarine line, than there is no point in reading this, as your only choice to go the Svetlana then the Shch.
The Svetlana line leads to the KK, and is your average and normal CL-CA grind. The Svetlana, at level 34, has a great 6 R slot broad side that is able to mount dual 6" guns for more firepower, single 8" guns for more range, dual 3.9" Minizinis what are great AA guns, the 5.1"/45 SD-2 guns for longer ranged AA, or even the dual 6? second set for even longer ranged AA. While not as good for TWing as the Bogatyr line due to less T slots, but it is redeemed in the KK due to great T slots for AA or ASW. Overall, the Svetlana is a very competitive CL at level 34, rivalling the Oakland, M pro, etc. The next ship in line is the KK; is the very start of the SN uniqueness. The KK is competitive with every ship in its tier, with great range (rapid fire single 7.1"s), average firepower (dual 8"s) with lower range, or good AA with the trip 6" guns. On the KK's T slots, it can easily use the 3.9?Minizini's with AA or even HE. I suggest this line to players who are newer to the game and have average skill, or players who have gunners the same level as their BOs.
The Bogatyr line leads to the Pallada and the Rurik. These ships are much more "pre- dreadnaught" like, with large main guns, and either a large amount of secondary guns or powerful secondary guns. The Bogatyr starts with a weak set of either dual 6" guns, dual 5", or rapid fire 3.9" guns, all of which are quite weak for a level 32 light cruiser fortunately this ship gets a level 34 set of rapid fire dual 6" guns with good accuracy (better FCS than the Chapayev). The Bogatyr line usually has a better FCS than other ships in its tier to make up for the lack of R slots. The Pallada is very similar to the Bogatyr, but it is the first ship in the Soviet ship tree to be able to use dual 8"s, which have a very good damage per shell. The dual 8" guns on the Pallada prepares you for the Rurik, for it can use the dual 8" guns on the T slots. The Rurik is much like the German Dland line of ships, with powerful man guns that have long range and damage, but a slow reload time. I recommend this line to players who are more experienced in the game, players with gunners at a higher level with lots of BVE, and players that want to TW until the Pallada.
For both lines, the playstyle difference during GB is large, as the KK line is more suited to AA and the Rurik line more suited to gunning, and both lines are equally good in an ASW role. It does not matter if you have 2 or 1 set of gunners for these ships, as with 1 set of gunners you're losing out on the great T slots these ships offer.
