"I highly doubt you can reach the ability cap with only 3 reps on US, unless you're talking 300+ vets per sailor."
Barring some serious vets, 3 will likely not cap. With +12 base Engineers (5) and not sure what they're rep base is around 150 vets, 3 reps +12 around 150 vets, my crew at 120 is roughly 1/2 of the rep cap. Now granted I believe only the engineers are boosted and some of the sailors are not full experts, it is still going to be difficult to rep cap with only 3. You have the option of running no AA for 2 extra reps and keep your OH endurance, however the personal choice for me has always been the triple rlds on the T slots. AA in GBs on the US is a god send, and HHs on the Nebby in HA couldn't make me happier... I will sacrafice some rep time for it.
"As for JVCO, stop talking about restorers being usefull for levelling for BB's, they're not. They only hold back the sailors you want the xp on. Having 50-100 extra SD might sound nice in the short term, but all it does is prevent you from getting 1 shot directly as much. Instead you just burn down seconds later because of a lack or repair rate. "
100 SD = 10% of the ships DP. Alaska has 15,700 DP, meaning 100 SD gets you the ability to burn an extra 1,570 DP. Now instead of being 1 shot, you are now crippled and have no TDA. In an Alaska your likely crippled out of range and being crippled instead of sunk is rather irrelevant. Combine this with a repair rate at level on an Alaska and you likely will not repair even if you were hit out of their range, if you do the battle is over before you do. SD in itself is not great. SD combined with a high DP ship and good reps is what makes it important.
