Hi,

I'm in an Alaska class BC and it sucks, I know that a lot of it is the ship's fault and
the rest is my crew's fault. Can anyone tell me what is an optimal crew for Alaska
and possibly for other ships above it. I'm ok at this game (at least I think) but with
my first crew, I made some nooby choices. :/

Ya, I wish I hadnt sold my first US BB crew and started KM crew. Dont get my wrong,
I like my H39, but I really miss my NorCal and SoDak. Those are just fun ships and as
you can see, I have 2 US BB BOs too, one for each line... and a CV line as a matter of
fact.

just saw the posts.
yeah its a good idea to level up different lines in the US with 2 or 3 new support crew
each time, especially if your goal is the bb6. all the different BB2s make it less boring
for each grind.
you'll figure out your favorite support setup that way (# of eng+rep).

For US, I like 2 Huge Reload Gunners (Classed, Acc, Acc, Rld), 3 or 4 Engies, 2 or 3
Rep, 1 Scout, 2 Huge Reload Gunners (Classes Rld, Rld, Rld - for AA).

As an update, I decided when I reached 38 for Brook on the Yellow (starter) crew I
would make a second crew to take the Northampton line, so my new crew (on
Atlanta/Juneau II) will be on Northampton with level 57 gunners. I love having lots
of supports and am using 4 engies and 3 repairs (because I have a 1st Repairer on
the Yellow crew). Eventually they will all meet up at an Iowa and above.

"I highly doubt you can reach the ability cap with only 3 reps on US, unless you're
talking 300+ vets per sailor."

Barring some serious vets, 3 will likely not cap. With +12 base Engineers (5) and not
sure what they're rep base is around 150 vets, 3 reps +12 around 150 vets, my crew at 120
is roughly 1/2 of the rep cap. Now granted I believe only the engineers are boosted and
some of the sailors are not full experts, it is still going to be difficult to rep cap
with only 3. You have the option of running no AA for 2 extra reps and keep your OH
endurance, however the personal choice for me has always been the triple rlds on the T
slots. AA in GBs on the US is a god send, and HHs on the Nebby in HA couldn't make me
happier... I will sacrafice some rep time for it.

"As for JVCO, stop talking about restorers being usefull for levelling for BB's, they're
not. They only hold back the sailors you want the xp on.
Having 50-100 extra SD might sound nice in the short term, but all it does is prevent
you from getting 1 shot directly as much. Instead you just burn down seconds later
because of a lack or repair rate. "

100 SD = 10% of the ships DP. Alaska has 15,700 DP, meaning 100 SD gets you the ability
to burn an extra 1,570 DP. Now instead of being 1 shot, you are now crippled and have no
TDA. In an Alaska your likely crippled out of range and being crippled instead of sunk is
rather irrelevant. Combine this with a repair rate at level on an Alaska and you likely
will not repair even if you were hit out of their range, if you do the battle is over
before you do. SD in itself is not great. SD combined with a high DP ship and good reps
is what makes it important.

You're right. I forgot we are talking about US, hence 3 reps is no way near enough.

"That was some great information. Although I understood most of the principles, it never
occurred to me that the engineers were still providing rep/rest. Now I got it... my
question is what exactly are the caps for restore, SD, and repair? I think that would be
helpful for future crew planning."

Restore stat contributes to SD (ergo SD=Restore). SD is capped at 900.

Repair is capped at 280 DP/s.

You should know that all sailors contribute to Repair and Restore stats; including BO and
gunners, for example. Therefore it is nice to have a 11+ Repair/Restore stat instead of
Potential stat, allowing you to reach SD/Rep cap faster.

@Blazer4show: Dear, "Oh almighty A.K.A The Navyfield GOD"

I tried just to help a game mate with the experiences i had in the US ship line about
the spread and i dont know about your "3x BB6 crew", but my spread in NoCar after
boost its good and if you want blockshot go for UK.

I think restorer could be nice to have at earlier levels since you will have to level up
your Reps and Engys to achieve much later a 900 SD, but if you read carefully again
what i wrote, you see also i said its a OPTIONAL thing and its up to him to choose
more supports or AA. I still keep leveling my AA rld gunners.

And yeah, gameplay skills as a line ship, have nothing to do about what you do with
your support crew, and since a BB1 can be sunk in one shot, he will regret making
mistakes. (not saying a bb1 can play line as well, but)

My third engy is worse than my two lvl ones due to his lower lvl by a lack of slots in
earlier ships but i dont think i asked to you about what your opinion about my setup
or playstyle.

Was just sharing my experiences, not trying to be the truth owner as you seem to
be, so, if you want to do something useful, help the topic author instead of criticizing
me.

Best regards.
