  • Splash Damage

Well I don't know how many of you were here in Beta when we had the KR torpedo stats
(similar to subs if not the same as sub torp damage now), and when SDE introduced all the
caps to our server they did something remarkable. They showed us they had the ability to
reduce the torpedo damage and virtually removed Nuclear splash damage.

I'm not calling for a zomg nerf submarine torpedo damage, I'm just asking, why and when
can't we look at something such as reducing the nuclear splash. I understand submarines
are meant to "counter" the zerg rush of an awesome bb player and keep him in check, but
why oh why does the submarine not need to hit him with any torps to get 50-60k attack?

Looking at the guys in charge on this one, Mailman/Vick, this something we can look at?

And they all could have been "duds" too, but who knows since duds are meaningless anyway.

I saw black2 get killed a couple of times like that last night. At one point the same sub
killed me with the same technique.

He fired 2 on either side to cripple then all it took was one more that I think was a dud
but still killed him.

If the sub player was smart; He would have fired 3 torps; One on each side, and one to hit.
That is what I do if I am behind a BB chasing.

To me his is the main problem with SS. Duds dont even mean anything anyway because people
just aim like that. Even if the torp is a dud it still deals nuke splash damage.

If you remove dud rate, you need to lower damage, otherwise it is an effective damage
buff...

SS torpedo damage is the same as NFKR. No other Torpedo is.

Yeah, SS torp splash damage is way to high. I mean, an SS doesn't even need to hit
a DD, FF, or CL to kill it (The main SS killing ships), the SS only need's to have 2 or 3
torps explode near the dd, ff, or cl's ship.

I would really like to see the Torp splash reduced. Because as said before, sub
playing should be based on skill, not highly on luck (like it is now).


As for normal torp splash. That's fine. It's just the sub torp splash that is too high.
Because atleast with normal torp splash, if you do get hurt, it's not much/ not as
constant as sub torp splash.


But I don't think SS torp damage needs to be nerfed... It seems to be fine... its just
the torp splash damage that is the issue for me.

But on another note... with the dud rate... I never get dud torps myself on my sub.
Dud's only happen if you are too close to the ship... and that's realistic... if a torp hit
too close, it would just ding off and float to the bottom because it was not activated
yet. So SS player's just need to learn to torp at correct distances... That goes with
part of the skill set for playing SS. (To not torp so close that you get dud's)

Also going with the correct distances... you can actually hurt yourself if you torp too
close, because the torp's splash damage comes back and hit's you. So if you torp at
a safe distance, you will be fine.

well... that's my 2 cents on the subject... Hope something comes from this ^_^ (like
less torp splash damage)

Remove dud rate, reduce insane splash damage and nerf torp damage.

Being oneshot by something (with bulge and 900sd) that did not even hit you is crazy.
Reducing splash damage, splash radius, and dud rates would at the least bring more skill
to SS play. No more of this launch all your trops in one shot, miss, but still get a kill.
