Well I am a bit torn between the following two bikes (in alphabetical order)

Honda CBR250r and the Kawasaki Ninja 250r

(Only 250 cc bikes please if you have an other recommendation!!)

Pros for Honda :

Fuel Injection, option for ABS, higher mpg, easier to start/run thanks to Fuel Injection,
More Torque

Cons for Honda :

It's not a Cool Ninja :P, Less Powerful bike.

Pros for Kawasaki :

More power, looks awesome,

Cons for Kawasaki :

Has a Carburetor, have to play with coke to start the engine.

Please let me know what else I should consider or your own personal recommendation. I will
be taking the MSF Course in the near future. I have ridden a 50cc scooter but that's about it.

Sticking with 250cc just as it's cheap, I've seen my friends with 150cc cruiser/scooter.
So I'm sure 250cc will be more then enough.

Well what do you want from the bike? Seriously unless your looking for a light sports bike
both are not great options.
If you have to pick one go for the ninja. all you need to do is maintain it well and turn
the carbs to have a little more fuel in the mix over winter.

Seriously though if you are looking for more of a every day bike look for a second hand
sv650 or another mid level sports tourer.

Btw dnt touch the bikes from china. They have terrible electrical systems often poor frame
materials and bad welds. Google them you will find loads of nightmare storys.

2 strokes are legal, even in California, no emission test required. They also do still sell
new mopeds that are 2 stroke, I know Tomos sells their Sprints, LXs, and Streetmates
all 2 stroke. If you need any more legal info on 2 stroke bikes look at mopedarmy.com

i LOVED my honda CMX250 ....

and if i'm remembering correctly 2-strokes are NOT street legal in the US due to
emissions regulations. The early 1980's or late 70's was about the last time you
had a choice of 2-strokes. (tho i could be remembering wrong). Motorcycles must
meet certain exhaust emission standards in the USA, just like automobiles do. Since
two-stroke engines are extremely hard to control for exhaust emissions, they are no
longer sold as street legal motorcycles here in the States due to EPA regulations.

Agree to G061, both bikes are too weak to be sports fun, and honestly to heavy.
If it큦 got to be a 250cc, how about a cool Enduro, that큦 fun, specially the 2-stroke
go like hell.

Well, if you are feeling like making a slightly worse investment. I must suggest the
Hyosung 250R.

Differences;

- it is physically bigger than the Ninja or CBR which is good if you are over 5'10''
- V Twin rather than the parallel twin of the Ninja or single of the CBR
- Dual front disc brakes
- EFI
- Great mileage
- ???
- Cheaper

It is not as good as the Japanese bikes but it isn't nearly as common.

Depends on what you want, a bike for driving to work or a sportsbike just for fun. The
Honda and Kawasaki are unspecatular low-quality bikes with powerless fourstroke engines
and cheap chassis, suspension and breakes. But they are easy to handle and enough for
driving to work. Look for the more reliable bike or witch optics you prefer. For me they
are both boring. :)

A real exiting sportsbike with 250cc is an Aprilia RS250 with a powerful twostroke engine
and quality chassis, suspension and breakes. But they arent easy to handle and to maintain.

Another option is an older 400cc fourstroke Bike like the Kawasaki ZXR400, the road
performance is equal to an Aprilia and their fourstroke engine isnt so agressive like a
twostroke.
