  • Sovietsky Soyuz guns

I need to know what we want to do with these...

Currently they switched both gunsets, which is kind of ridiculous...

I was personally thinking of switching them back first.
After that we can let them rest until we work on all the BB5 (which would have my preference).
Or we can try to get them right before that. But if we do that, I really want to send it
in with the next request (which I will send in on Tuesday evening, since sde is out of
office till wednesday anyways).

So if you guys feel we need to do something now (other than switching them back), please
post that in here.

We will be doing all the 110 sets at the same time.

That way there will be no pressure on it.
if we leave the SN 110's overpowered on the real servers (or experiment witht hem on
there) we may have to much pressure to do the others quickly (as there will be an
unbalance on the real servers)

Because we have no idea how long the BB5 patch will take... And it would be a very
bad idea to release unbalanced/overpowered content on the live servers without
any idea how long it will remain there. And just to "try something" is a bad rationale
in the first place.

They have to be completely different and worse than the current BB5 guns. They have to be
different and a gimmick. You can't have two viable gunsets for one ship. Its near impossible
to balance and make them unique compared to other nations. The ships hull needs to be
tailored for one design, the other design has to be a gimmick, that could be better in some
situations, but not in most.

Because Angus, you don't just sit there on your own sweet jolly arse thinking up magical
scenarios you want to see. Before ALL changes there are discussions, long lengthy
discussions where a number of things happen:

1. Retards post and after a few pages get bored because everyone ignores their stupid
ideas and tells them to get lost.

2. Clever people post and debate with each other what should happen, eventually they will
start to compromise and at the end you end up with something that everyone is reasonably
happy with.

3. Now that you have the basic premise of what you want to do, you find a grunt and you
get him to do a bit of number crunching. This gives you a proposal.


Now, what is the problem with missing this all out you might say? I just want to
experiment and see what happens. Firstly, if said content is overpowered, EVERYONE will
use it and ignore other gunsets. If it is underpowered, NO-ONE will use it. Theres your
experiment right there, screwing up the rest of the balancing tests because lets face it,
we all love dicking around with overpowered content once in a while.

Secondly, what happens when we come to balance the other lvl 110 guns and SDE turns around
and tells us that due to your "experiment" the MN/SN 110 guns are being left as they are
because you have already made changes to them. What then?

You still don't get this balancing lark Angus, you don't just do stuff on a whim and you
don't do stuff unless you are damn sure it isn't going to need changing in the future.
This isn't a 5 minute fix kinda thing. This is 10 very clever people thrashing out
proposals, or it should be at least. We all know what it is at the minute.

nerfing SN 110 guns its a good move, make that set useless until all BB5 lvl 110 gunsets
can be revised
soyuz still has more range than monty and more dmg than h44 with 100 gunset so i think it
works for now

Indeed, that works for this patch; Then have a discussion for the 110 gun patch. I've got a
couple of thoughts, we could go a few directions, but I am of the opinion that overall, the
100's should be a better gunset in most situations.

1. Swap levels again
2. buff 100's range to slightly below the current 110's...
3. nerf 110's range to current monty range

Ultimately, I think we would end up with a Gimmick set of guns and nothing more.

Personally, I think a second set of BB5 guns is a ridiculous idea. There just isn't room to
make changes. I mean, where in the heck are you going to fit the ranges?

They are there originally to allow a different game play for the last ship in the game.
Provide something different after a long grind to let someone choose between the two
styles with the last ship available in a line.

The BB6s have changed that now. You no longer stay in the BB5 for perpetuity. You get
something at the end of the grind. There is no reason to provide a different style since
you're getting a new ship. And, with experience gain as it is now, the BB6 grind has
been reduced tremendously.

The entire reason for having a second set of guns has been dramatically altered.
