Meteor you'll need a slow shutter speed to capture it streaking across the sky. 10sec, 20sec, 30sec, or even Bulb Mode (shutter opens once you press it, and closes only when you press again), with low ISO.
For earthquake or tornado, just set it to Auto and shoot immediately. Don't risk wasting time messing around with settings, these events happen in a split second and you don't want to miss it.
Meteor self portrait? Don't bother. Haha, if you're close enough to see a meteor hit you, your camera probably wouldn't survive anyway. Even if it does, the shockwave could probably wipe the data off your memory card.
