  • Win 7, NF and stuck screen starting the program

Hello.

I recently upgraded all my systems to Win7 Pro. They were XP Pro and Vista Premium
previously and all of them ran NF. Since I upgraded none of the systems will run
correctly. All of them get to the point where the picture of the burning carrier is
displayed and the 'Loading' circle icon moves on the bottom. When I look at Task Manager,
it is the only instance of NF and the status is running. I can leave the system on the
screen for hours and nothing changes. After hours of sitting on the burning carrier, Task
Manager still displays the status as running but the screen never advances.

1. I did uninstall the program, delete all files and reinstalled it in the Programs (x86)
folder.
2. Manually patched the program and the ENFUNS and manually updated HackShield.
3. Compatibility mode not checked. (I have tried several modes and nothing changes.)
4. Disabled the desktop composition and the visual themes.
5. Set to run as Administrator and have even tried logging in on the local Administrator
account and get the same results.
5. Checked all the executable files in the SD Enternet folder to ensure they all have the
above settings.
6. NF icon set to run Maximized.
7. All executables in SD Enternet folder are entered into DEP.
8. Tried three different ISP providers at different locations with no change in results.

Is there a maximum Visual Display that can be used? Anybody see anything that I am missing?

This is very frustrating in the fact I can't get any of the Win 7 systems to work but they
used to with the old operating systems so I know it isn't a hardware problem. A Vista
laptop system was used to test my home network and NF loaded and ran without an issue so
nothing changed on that side either.

Help please?

I ran some tests with compatibility mode and hack shield and NF ran but I did experience
some playability issues from time to time otherwise it ran ok. (aka lag)

I am curious to find out what platform NF uses to run, there could be a upgrade or
compatiblity issue on the PC.

It unfortunately doesn't work in either folder for me, Programs or Programs (x64).

One work around I have found is loading Orcale's Virtual Box. That allows me to install
and run a virtual Win XP system on my Win 7 box. The interface isn't as clean or easy to
use as playing the game in normal mode.

I am still hopeful that a resolution to the problem of playing NF on my Win 7 box without
a clumsy interface can be found.

Unfortunately the 256 colors didn't work either. I changed the launcher and the actual
program to use 256. Still just got to the burning carrier and stayed there for 25 minutes
until I shut it down.

And yes I made sure to install the program into the x64 directory.

OK one thing to try is to set the game in the compatibility to
"Run in 256 Colors" it looks like crap loading but it runs fine in game.

Let me know, if that helps.

I run Win 7 home prem x64 and have no compatibility issues set, other than run as admin.
Make sure if you are using the 64bit version you install the game and launcher to the proper
folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\SD EnterNET\NavyFIELD" for example. the Key being you must
select the (x86) folder during the install.

That's disappointing considering all the systems I have in house are now Win 7 Pro due to
work reasons...:(

One last thing is they are all in a domain not stand alone systems.

Keeping the fingers crossed.

I never was able to get NF to run on Win 7 pro. I have it running on Win 7 home
prem. and it works great. (Win 7 Home Prem. 32bit)

I have this same problem on my Thinkpad W520, I've tried most of the things listed and
nothing works. I noticed I have the same Processor and Windows 7 64- bit Service Pack 1.
The only difference is that mine has a 2gb ram graphics card and only one 4 gb ddr3 ram
stick.

It is the 64 bit operating system. Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 according to the
Windows system page.

Again, thank you. If we get this one fixed, then the rest should fall into line quickly.

I will check tonight on the compatibility.

Just curious, as for the version of windows 7 is it 64 bit or 32 bit?
