hey all, i have a 2007 freightliner century class with the old DD60 (455HP) engine in it.
Its got an eaton fuller 13 speed tranny w/ splitter and a 3.46 rear end.

anyone know what these codes are that i find on the dash?
Eng Sht Hi-128 351 03

i tried to google these codes, and only found results for one of them....results stated
somethign with a turbo sensor or another...but it still doesnt make sense to me w/ the
given explanation. I cant remember which one was which

I've been driving about 6k miles a week for the past 3 motnhs with this damned check
engine light on, and been noticing a drop in fuel mileage....very drastic....used to get
6.8-7.0mpg and now am struggling to keep 5.7-6.0.

I am running roughly 70mph average at 1550 RPMs, with an average load weighing in at 38k
lbs. Usually running I-80 so no hills till WY, UT area anyhow.

Am i harming my truck by not taking it in or is there a way to clear these faults and see
if they come back?

thx for the help in advance

Yes, a TA or Petro that have any sort of competence should be able to hook it up to a
handheld or floor diagnostic computer and make a minute determination of any possible
code problems or why your engine check light is on.

where can i find one of those nifty handhelds????

i usually get my PMs done once every 20k miles, shouldnt TA/Petro be able to figure that
out for me?

yeah i'm an O/O just trying to make up for some lost time. I had it in the shop about a
month ago in fontana? pomona? something like that, and all they did was replace the CAC(no
idea what exactly it does) but when it blew i lost my turbo, and couldnt even climb a tiny
hill w/ empty trailer:(

yeah, thats why i wanna find out what them codes are.....but i need every penny i can make
at the moment....CR England is screwing me royally

You can always 1) buy a handheld for your truck type, plug into your truck's computer
and clear the fault codes out or 2) take it to someone who has a handheld that can
do the same.

If your mileage continues to deteriorate, my advice to you is to stop squeezing
pennies and take that Freightliner in to get looked over, especially if you are not
doing the all the maintenance at the recommended mile intervals. Clearing the codes
and then driving on a haul will either pop the engine light back up or it will end up
being nothing and the engine light will stay off. This may or may not be attributed to
your reduction in fuel mileage though.

Apparently, your an independent or your working for a cheap ass owner or transport
company. I used to drive for Werner's (many years ago) on a paper account from
Chicago to Philly to Atlanta (on the road for 26-28 days a pop with 2-3 days back
home) and anytime I had a check engine light go off, all I had to do was let my
dispatcher know and he took care of lining up my hitting a nearby truck shop, usually
after I dropped my load.

Anyhow, I would imagine that engine check light is telling you something, especially
with your mileage decreasing on a fairly consistent basis. Does not seem like
anything serious, otherwise you would have already had something significant
happen, but I would wager that your truck will eventually, in the upcoming near
future, need to be looked at by a certified heavy truck mechanic.
