  • Triple 6" range question

Do the triple 6's outrange the duals? Just contemplating biting the bullet and getting an Edin. Since I'd gain 2 barrels over the sirius but lose some rate of fire due to reload speed I was wondering if there are any other trade-ups that come with the triples? If its gonna cost more to repair the ship, I'd like to be certain that the triples will offer an improvement on the duals I'm using now. (checked but couldn't find the info on trainworld)

thanks

I found the spread on the 6" triples pretty unmanagable at any range when I first got the Edinburgh, this was with level 37 gunners. The longer reload was also a difficult transition compared to the Sirius with the lvl 33 6"s, especially against DD's. I found that my spread had tightened up by level 40ish so that a mid range salvo, 4-18 degrees was pretty good and most DD's didn't like it. At max range 45 deg, my spread is quite good at level 50, particularly side on.

btw royalnavymat, at what level do you think the edin is better than sirius? i assume before spread is good, sirius is better....or is edin better from the start?

does it cost more per .1 in of armor on a eding or is it the same as sirius. i currently have 5.0 belt, .5 deck, and 10 bulge, if the price is the same, can i just transfer this setting over to an eding?

I'm not quite sure along what lines maniac is thinking.
The triple 6" = 4x3.
The dual 6" =5x2.
We know which is bigger, and the triple gives the following:
More Range
More DPS
Better Spread
Better Angles
The Edin is big, but she's also a great ship for torp doding. Learn to swing your rear away from the torps..
or was that the wrong thing. Gah i forgot.

Anyway, either way, Edin > Sirius.

i'd say you answered your own question. one benefit of the edin is that it just plain has more room. if that's a benefit that you value, then yes, the edin is "better" than the sirius.

now the better question...edin or york :-P

careful when asking that, you'll get a deluge of differing replies.

Ok, now if I have the mil (actually getting there) is the Edin really any better given that they dish out the same damage? From what you're saying, I'm going to be hitting as hard with a bigger "kick me" sign on my back :) I'm tempted as it will get me more room for crew and my sailors are getting to the point where I can't max the crew on all my supports (and secondary spots are crewless).

thanks again

if you can't armor the Edin don't use it.

Sirius and Edin dish out the same damage per second (833 dps) with 6's. The trip 6 outrange the dual 6 by a little, but the size of the edin will hurt u too much if you can't afford the armor. It costs a lot to repair the edin also.

Need 1 million credits minimum before buying Edin to armor and outfit.
