I did check the forum in the US section but I couldnt' find a comparison between
getting the Somers now or waiting til DDX. All I found was threads about Gearing or
Somers. Stop being a jerk just to be a jerk.

Thanks everyone for the input. I do like torpedoes so I got the Somers. I will
probably get the DDX when I get the level.

Are either of you fellas going to follow up your statements with an explanation of
WHY? =)

I say stick with Fletcher until you need the displacement of the Somers or DDX.

If you can skip Somers you avoid any credit loss on re-selling it. You are not wasting
money too bad to get a Somers but Fletcher is a very good ship as well. I noticed I
seemed to get more wins in Fletcher than in Somers (until I got up in level a lot). I
think Somers getting sunk costs your team more than Fletcher thus making it more
likely you lose if you get sunk.

Also the double 5/38's you will most likely use on the Somers get lots better as your
gunners level and are kind of hard to use at 21. The double 4in on the Fletcher are
easier to hit with and seemed to work better with low level gunners than the double
5/38's on the Somers. NOW having said that I prefered the Somers over the Fletcher
with high level gunners until the DDX came out and I went to it instead once my BO
got back qualified to it.

Having just gone this route, I would get the somers again then move to the DDX. It's more
durable than the fletcher and you can carry more weapons and armor.

it's your preference:
-if you like to torpedo a lot, somers is recommended.
-if you just like to gun it out, wait till DDX

besides, you can sell the somers(if you actually bought it) to buy the DDX later
