  • Brooklyn, how best to use it?

ok i've read all the post under US Navy on brooks, i've tried the 6" trips and 8" duals
and honestly i prefer the duals simply due to the more xp i get, problem is in any CL
or CL/CA game i'm usually one of the first few ships to go down, anyone out there
have a tried and true tactic for usage of this ship? I'm bout ready to sell it and go
back to the oak for the 5/54's. i'm averaging a lousy 4k to 5k attack per game....in a
good game 12k attack, can't afford armor so i've been sticking it out in the CL or
CL/CA games for the cash. Help plz
Ship loadout as follows
8" D's dual turrets 2 binds light HE
1.0 deck

i prefer the range attacks and i'm building up my belt as i go along any advice?

I love my brook as I feel it is the best ship in the US fleet until Alaska. I have used it
with both 8' and 6'. The 8's do good in CL/CA games but you are limited in ammo.
And you must have armor. I would average about 10K-14K attack per game. Then I
decided to switch to the 6's using HE heavy and a lot of belt armor. I play CL/DD
games and average 18K-24K attack with my high around 32K. So it depends on
your style of play or what mood your in. The brook is probably the only ship that can
own in DD/CL game as well as CL/CA games with a few modifications.

Brook is a very open-ended ship to play around with and depends on the game type you play in.

CL/CA games:

Strap on as much deck as you can while using the 8" duals with HE light. Always stay at
around max range and use scout to scout for you and just shoot them at far range. You get
the best exp that way.

CL/DD games:

1:2 Deck:Belt armor. Triple 6" guns and try to hit at max range, but if there are dds
coming towards you, speed into them, then broadside. No CL hurts more than a broadside
from a Brook. And use HE light.

I beg to differ . The Brook is a beast and with decent gunners shells out serious
damage. If your anywhere near good with manuvering you can devestate fleets.
Charge in on the boats ranging you so all they can do is rake your ship and not hit it
broadside then they are yours , ive taken multiple ship that outrange brook such as
mpros and ca's durring a single game.

You got to think out of the box and experiment a little but once you get good torps
will miss you most the time and range will not be an issue . Those 5 tripple 6"
cannons can cause fear.. use heavy HE ammo.

basicaly the brook dosent carry enough ammo to use the duals so your stuck with
the triple 6
which are great againts dds but when you start facing other cls and ca it lacks range
and fire power

you should only play games dd/cl game to make the most exp

but if you are going to use a brook with the dual 8
what i did was leave off my back guns/gunner to make way for armour

i could fit about 3-4 inchs with them off

but like that you have really watch what you take shots at
