  • Data Corrupted Issue - March 2011 Update

Stormvanger
Our favorite issue is still with us, so long now that I've put a YEAR in the update in the
title. There's still no blanket fix for this issue, the updater still sometimes fails to
update your installation correctly and the result is the "DATA CORRUPTED" issue we've come
to know and loathe. Anyway, with the latest thread update, we've updated some of the
procedures slightly. (I'd say "enjoy", but I know you won't.)

There's no best way to fix it, as each fix depends on your PC's setup. And all our PCs
are at least a little different. But if you are seeing the DATA CORRUPTED message,
the method that has worked more often than not is as follows...

1 - Go into control panel, add/remove programs and uninstall Navyfield.

2 - Use regedit.exe to open your PC's registry. Search for "SD Enternet" and delete
anything it finds. (IF you are not comfortable editing the registry, you can skip this
step. But if it fails to solve your problem, you'll likely have to go back and do it again
and add in this step after all. People have reported success both with and without
this step.)

3 - Navigate to your SD Enternet directory (usually c:\program files\sd enternet) and
delete it and all subdirectories.

4 - reboot. (it's windows, it loves this step. =)

5 - Go to the DOWNLOAD section of this site, the GAME DOWNLOAD subsection and
download and install a fresh copy of navyfield. CNET will take longer but seems
always reliable, while SDE's link is quicker. (Current version is as follows...)

http://sdentglobal.nefficient.com/sdenternet/Download/NF1315.exe

6 - DO NOT START THE GAME AFTER THE INSTALL

7 - Now hit this URL and download the latest manual patch and run it.
http://www.navyfield.com/chkcount/chk_download_05.asp?Code=button_patch

8 - Compatibility Mode is no longer a good idea, since the Hackshield patch. DO NOT use
Compatibility mode.

Steps 5 and 7 combined bypass the updater altogether and install the latest version
of the game. This has worked for quite a few people. PLEASE test it out and let us
know if it worked or not!

IMPORTANT NOTE - some users have reported success by disabling their anti-virus
software during steps 4 and 6, as non-standard or out-dated anti-virus programs
can interfere with software installations.

THE LAST THING TO TRY

If you've followed the above steps and your computer is still trying to deny you your
gaming experience, please open a support ticket on the blue column to your left.
There might be something amiss with your account that only a GM can fix, or your PC
could have a non-standard setup that a tech mod could advise you on.

I'ts worked for me, i did all the steps, and now i can play NF without problems, i
recommend use the cleaner registry of "CCleaner" software (search on google wath it is)
but more effective is manually edit the windows registry but is delicate to edit, and
check all the NF entries of the registry, searching for "SDEnterNET"...Of course doing
with caution, and check the antivirus systems that couldn't edit the registry..

This game is a pathetic excuse.

The developers need to go back to basics.

What a total waste of my time. Time I will not be getting back!

I am VERY dissapointed with the sloppy patch. I've downloaded and followed the steps
three times already and I'm still getting the 'corrupted data' message. I guess its time
for the developers to hire new programmers who can create an efficient and logical Update.

How come the uninstaller does NOT get rid of the old registries?? oh no! you have to do it
manually. Why do I have to download the Soviet Sprites as a separate file?? Oh no! that's
too complicated explain. How come there's a NFUpdate thingy that's supposed to check the
integrity of all the files and says 'Everything OK' and then when I log-in it says 'Data
Corrupted' Oh well... you get the picture, right? Like someone said earlier in this
thread... You guys are ruining your own server population! Wake up, SDEnternet, WAKE UP!

I'm not even bothering to send a support ticket... I'll just move on and hopefully, in a
few months when you guys solved all these issues, I might give it another try.

hey,

since 1.315 i haven't been able to play. I've followed this guide to the letter including
deleting the registry and deleting pervious sd enternet content. No matter how it's
done it continues to say data corrupted

I did exactly what you said and this time, it patched 4 files instead of 101 after the
manual patch. Then it said "Error running updater. (Error code: 30000011)" Then
blackscreen. After a few seconds in blackscreen, another error box that says "Running
in compability mode. The program will be closed." appeared. So I tried to turn off the
compability mode but it was already turned off. Like I use DeepFreeze, game files were
re-corrupted. I tried to restrart the game and it started patching 101 files so I closed it.
What now?

After trying those steps continuously, over and over again, I outlasted the machine.
It finally works. A little shaky getting desktop icon to work at times, but it works
now. A great big thanks to Stormvanger and NF for all the help with my 7 tickets,
gulp.....ugh. Thankyou.
