Forget about AA on Dunkerque and Strasbourg. Dunkerque is made to rush (AA will slow you
down) while Strasbourg has not enough speed nor support slots to handle it.

In general yes, do they make good AA platforms? They seem to have some
nice long guns not to much different from the IJN for aa damage, but have
shorter RN heavy hitting slow guns with shorter range. I guess when I look at
the NM ships besides the t slots where the light long range gun would work, I
have a hard time understanding the combos that would work in the higher lvl
bb.

Looking at the number of T slots even the weak long range guns seems like it
would work much like the IJN. But also based on the ships looks the gun
coverage seems to be rear and sides, where the Yamoto gets about 360 equal
coverage.

I like the looks of the NM just haven't seen very many in action, let alone with
aa guns.

You mean if the ship is a great platform to perform AA?

MN 3" AA guns are incredibly weak. They have long range but lack the punch. The only ships
in which they will do any good are APA, BB4 and 5. This will soon change as SDE has
released MN makeovers of 4 KM ships on NF.KR already and we're supposed to get them as well.

I know from what I have read the NM AA got the old IJN range, but I was more
interested in the coverage angles of the AA not the AA guns golden angles. I
guess I wasn't specific enough on that but its my mistake.

Main guns i am not so big on having to know, but do NM AA guns have good
coverage angles like IJN or like RN/KM where AA guns are good broad side but
as planes move to the front and rear you have less guns and/or dead spots.
