There are good advice there are bad advice.Get blown up a few time.you will know
which are the good advice. You have a choice to choose

Principle for build selective protection.

4.5" Deck(This is for planes and most shells that land on deck)
No Belt(i only see a thin line on the maryland don't think that there is that many
random
chance of getting hit on belt) if it do hit yes it will hurt because there is zero armour

100 buldge(This is for sub .you can go lower depending on how skill you can deal
with
sub)

Your insurance doesn't cover everything it applies to armour as well
Its a trade off between protection vs speed & protection vs displacement(how many
big guns you want to carry).
you would need to balance it on your own play style

the .2 deck and 3 bulk is mainly superstition and hasn't been proved in fact.

I tend to think if its "all or nothing" and that 7" of deck isnt useful at max range and
only under it, then .2 deck only bounce at an angle that would mean its your belt thats
getting punch through. So I'd say useless.

for the bulk, only official effect is allowing you to keep the OH speed with less shown
dp, but its also really heavy, so for it to efficiently lower your OH damage %, you'd need
to put a certain ammount of bulk that would noticeably reduce that OH Speed.

So overall worthless. I'm wondering if it has an effect on "submergence" tough, as it
increase the "defense" rating of the ship.

Ignore the trolls.

The first response you received was essentially correct. 0.2 belt armor to help with
reducing torpedo damage, then as much bulge armor to soak torpedo damage as you can get
without losing speed.

There are also people who would suggest adding 0.2 deck and 3 bulkhead to that, but that's
an advanced topic and is debatable.

hi jazzmeh.

i run the maryland armoured as follows:

3" deck
5" belt
50 bulge
15 bulk.

also, since you drive a monty, i armour it like this:

5.5" deck
7" belt
45 bulge
20bulk.

hope it helps =)

I agree with megabstr. More bulge = More SD. More Belt = More defense against sailor deaths.

KEKEKE!

Seriously, who are the people piloting your account?

For a player who already have a BB5 (jazzmeh), this thread is intriguing. US depends on speed, not armor.
All you need is .2 belt and bulge till you lose a knot or not lose a knot at all.
