  • To all Alaska/Guam Drivers

I have been driving the Alaska/Guam for about two weeks now. Let me tell you, it
has truly been a learning experience. For those about to get into this ship, let me
give you some knowledge that I have learned so far.

1. If you are just beginning the Alaska, go play as much Blitz as you can, you will suck
kinda hard, but as you get closer to 60 your spread will get better and all of a
sudden things will become food to you. Enjoy eating CA's and CL's with one salvo,
because you will become food before you know it.

2. When you get to Great Battle 1&2, you will be total food. Read what Lord Kelvin
has posted on driving the Alaska and Guam. If you don't want to read it, essentially
you will have to do is launch scouts, perform AA duties, and wait until most of the
other teams' larger BB's have died to aggressively play the 'line'. Rarely will you go
unseen, but if you do, you can really ruin a BB4-6's day (if lucky) even if you get
killed rather fast.

3. Cling to the fun moments in the Alaska/Guam. They are few and far between and
you will want to cry your eyes out (exaggeration) most of the time you drive this out-
ranged glass jaw. Just to give an example, the other day I hid in a cloud mid battle
and went unnoticed. A group of 4 ships came my way, I opened up and killed a
Chapayev CL rather fast, I then demolished a IJN DD (not sure which type), right
after I put two good broadsides on a Lion I, crippling him and allowing him to be
DB'd. I then fought a battle against an Andrei Petrovany (however it is spelled). That
is the most action I have had on a Guam so far in GB2. I haven't had fun like that in
my Guam since, but I will make it through this horrid grind to Colorado.

4. To Be Posted at a future time.

This may or may not get stickied, it isn't good enough to get stickied so I will bump
this from time to time.

Hopefully this can help those in the Alaska or Guam that want to bang their' heads
against the wall every game.

The alaska can be a good boat if you know how to use it, the best way for GB2 and 1s
is to use your speed to thrust in get a few shots on somebody and get back behind the
lines asap hopefully while the other teams bbs are distracted on bigger food. And
defanitly avoid the NM

I can understand the point of the post, and no real complaints trying to explain how
you've done it.

However I would not give advice on ships you have not played. I realize you say take with
a grain of salt, but having not played it, I really wouldn't include it in the post, as it
detracts from the rest of the message.
