  • How to get more good engineers?

Hi folks, I am currently running around in an AA style CL Atlanta, but my ship is rather slow (35/42 kts overheat) with the one yellow engineer, so I can never get in range to shoot any planes or anything else.

Will more engineers help? How long does it take (in points) to roll a +12 base engi? Is it worth buying some engis from the shop? I heard I need like 3 for the USN BB line. Thanks.

Yes more engineers would increase the speed and OH time and burn but that depends on the engineers level and vets. On point wise to roll +12 engineer it's random, you just have to depends on luck. If you buy from the shop I would assume it's either elite ones. No US BB does not need 3 engineers but 5 if you're running it with AA and 6 without AA.

Hey thanks, I have so far only put a few thousand points towards rolling. I guess I will have to drop in 10000 and see what crew I can get :)

I sure hope I get a few engis, without trade it will take a while to get 5! Thanks again for your help!

Keep an eye out for some rare sailors that you roll. Some sailors have like +12engine and +12 restorer or +12 engine and +12 repair. Those kind of sailors it best but very rare. Even with +12engine and +11 on others isn't bad either. Again not +12engine all the time. Some may even be +12 accuracy or +12 reload or fighter and etc. Like i said earlier it's all random. If you rolled +12 on those sailors you can make good use of it. 
I think it's best if you level extra engineers and repairs just incase. Every BB6 has 9 support slots and 2 T slots. So if you're running with AA on your BB, it'll be 5 eng and 3 rep and a scout. If you aren't running AA then 6eng and 4 rep and a scout. So if you do make extra eng and rep you got more better option on your playstyle.

ok   you are planning for a full crew at bb6-7-whuteva endgame

so

a full everything crew for each nation (x7)
a basic idea is generally along the lines of


5-6  BO     .. BB1 .. BB2 .. CV .. SS .. APA .. misc extra
4-6 Gunners (2-3 prs) .. Main gun .. secondary gun .. AA gun
2 torpers (1 pr)
6 engrs
4 reps
1 res
1-2 sonarman (for all CL's as well as SS) * 2nd is lightweight for escort cl duty .. 1st is SS
1 planesman (ss air)
1 seaman
1-2 scout pilots
4-6 fighter pilots
6 bombers (mix 2/4 or 3/3  torpedo / dive bmbrs)
2-4 landing crew marines for APA usage in HA harbor tile
1 medic (optional .. and some nations don't have)
1 radioman 
 

if roll engr 12's - then especially look for the high rep/res (10/11ish) support stat ones

main stats are one thing and are the primary factor (as well as prem boost / vets / experts)
but remeber - secondary stats also play a contributing factor in some crew types
