  • Weird in-game lag and crashes

    07. 08. 2011 18:49

snailgod
Back from my 1 month vacation and now NF is starting to act funny.

First problem: Occasionally when I start up NF and log-in, it gives me a Data File Corrupted message, but it only occurs sometimes.

Second problem: In game, when I use certain functions (Like scrolling through my ships in the shipyard) the game will freeze right after I hit the blue scroll arrow.
This only happens on some functions (Others are vet rolling, premium item use, etc).

Third problem: In battle, the first 30 seconds will go by with no problems, but after that it will suddenly start lagging horribly and witin 5 seconds crash.

(Before you ask, NF worked before I left for vacation. Good internet connection, running in compatability mode, and all that good stuff)
Any solutions?

OK connection is fine so that leaves a few things.

Your game was installed into the incorrect directory by the installer, not your fault
Only 64-bit programs should be in the C:/Program Files/ 32 bit programs like
NF should be in the C:/Program Files (x86) folder.

Using compatibility mode in Win 7 can often cause delayed responses like a pause as you
switch ships in the shipyard.

Only thing that "SHOULD" be needed is run as admin

The corrupted data would indicate and problem in the files and you can try deleting the data files
and letting the game replace them. You can try the automatic way then the manual D/L and copy
if needed

As for the install location when you need to reinstall for any reason make sure you change the
install directory and follow the proper steps to un-install

Did you by any chance go through the "Common Problems + Solutions" Post by the Mod to see if any of that stuff works for you?

Yeah.
I wouldn't have made a post if I had heard of this problem before.

Computer Info
OS: Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit
CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 560 @ 3.4 GHz (I've unlocked it to a B60 if anyone understands what that means)
Ram: 4GB of 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM.
GPU: XFX Radeon HD 4850.

First issue is win7 x64 SHOULD NOT be run in compatibility mode and second where is the game installed
and third run a pathping test and post back the results so we can rule out connection issues

1. I tried it in compatibility mode.
2. Standard install directory (C:/Program Files/ SD Enternet or something like that)
3. Here are the results.

Worked 100%. Thanks.
(Never knew that about 64-bit OS)

Ok what worked?

The compatibility thing.
Not sure if the install directory did anything, but I forgot to check it before I reinstalled and I'm too lazy to install it into the default directory. (But if I run in compatibility mode from the x86 directory, it retains the lag)
