Good day sailors.

I have a question for you, was wondering if someoune could please answer me.

The question is...
If I do not change a sailor's Class right after the sailor levels up, will I lost ability points?

For exemple:
My Gunner has just reached level 43 and I don't have enough points to change his class to Heavy Gunner.
If I change his class after lvl 43, about level 44 or 45, will it lost ability points? Or It will be recovered?

I hope I have been clear in my question.

Thank you.

You will loose ability.

If you can't class him, do not level him (Or the other gunner) until you have aquired enough points to class him. (Asking for points in the trade area will normally get you free points, as most players have tons of points sitting around once they get past level 80)

Well norm some sailors get better with waiting on classing them. As the IJN DP gunners.

I think there are valid arguments both for and against upleveling on time.  I also think it is rare and unique more to a nation's advantage traits than position abilities.

What I mean is when you look at UK, their national trait advantage is Repair +2, for the US, it's Fighter +2, and KM it's Engr +2.  Other nations have Restore, reload, bomber, etc.

In considering the sailor's role (Gunner), the best national trait to have would be reload, whereby you can make your gunner an Accuracy gunner and enjoy the reload national advantage.  Repair would be okay also, but eventually with Repairmen and Restorers your SD will hit 900 anyway.

Similarly, a regular support slot sailor (Rep/Rest/Engr/Seaman/Medic) could enjoy a little more Repair, Restore, or Engr ability and delay classing allows the national trait to continue a little more.  On the otherhand if your national trait is Fighter or Bomber and you're upleveling a Gunner, it might not bring much advantage overall anyway.

hum... Great!

Thanks for your opinions.
I'm going to wait until I have the necessary points to change the class.

Best Regards!

You need to be careful when saying this because you might confuse someone who has just started the game.  You should pretty much always class right away unless speficied not to such as in the case of IJN AA Gunners.  There are other cases where you could class after but for that, those people have long term plans and have calculated the small details to achieve their goal.

I'll add one more thing which is important.  Upon classing up, virtually all sailor classes increase the sailor crew count (they will be able to add more recruits).  This is important because those extra recruits can be converted to experts/vets.

If you've run out of points to change class, then stop using those sailors.  If you were on Nebraska I'd give you some ~  someone on Kaiser please help him out.

If he doesn't have enough points to class his gunners, chances are he doesn't have enough points to trade.

You will need 50,000 points to trade if you're level 30 or over, 150,000 if you are under 30.

You will need the same amount of credits also. (to trade)

I had that situation once as well on a storage account. I just kept whatever 3-4 sailors I could roll and played a FF to gain a few points.  Essentially I shelved the sailors that needed classing.  Once I had enough creds, I changed those random stat sailors into CV/SS BOs.

Actually what I wanted to also say was this kind of thing should never happen.  We've talked about this before but the points given to a player to start account is not enough.  Especially if they go the CV route, the class changes require a lot more points.  It's not harmful to stay in a lower class ship while trying to earn credits but to miss classing because not enough points are available on a starting account seems inexcusable.

Exactly, and forget trying to convert experts at that level...

most of us are obviously way beyond the point of not having enough points to class sailors but hopefully this is at least a reminder that new players need to get a few extra points when starting their crews.  Maybe it's a mission that rewards bonus points, maybe it's as simple as starting with 100K-150K points.  I hope something is done about this because for a game that is losing more players than gaining, the last thing it needs is something as stupid as not having enough points to class a sailor to drive a potential customer/player to giving up due to frustration.
