If you reduce the crew on a planesman, you run the risk of starting a game with an empty tank of air.
If you reduce the crew on a torpedo man, you will have more duds.
If you reduce the crew on your BO, then your SD will go down.
If you burn off experts in your engies, then your oh speed and time will go down.
Yes Planesmen don't have actual caps, but at higher levels they have effective caps because you get tiny reductions in air reload time as your planesman improves. Again, you have to be a smart player to really need that reload time.
So my suggestion is to keep everyone fully loaded and live with the loss of a knot. It really doesn't impact you if you play smart. Now if you just go running around the board, chasing BBs like they are beautiful blonds, it probably won't do you much good to have one more knot anyway. Instead, learn to predict where players will be and be waiting for them.
