One of the most frustrating aspects of Navy Field is the blitz auto-splits. They are complete garbage. If you want proof play for a couple of hours and count the number of games that are complete slaughters and those which are close and actually fun.

I can go weeks without playing in a blitz battle that is close or interesting.

Maybe there are players who will put up with getting slaughtered a lot in exchange for being on the winning side with a easy win where they can just pile on 3:1, 10:1, or whatever. However, I know many players share my opinion, win or lose, the best games are the very rare ones where it goes down to the wire with both sides having a chance to win.

Often the splits by ship count or class are so awful I can call the game at the start. However, the problem goes a lot deeper than just figuring out ship classes and levels or crew levels. Obviously, there's a player skill component. We know Navy Field tracks player rankings. Whether that's sufficiently sophisticated to make more balanced splits (leading to games that are actually interesting) or not I'll leave to the programmers.

Please revisit the splits. Thanks.

gratz you just notice it just now?

it being that way ever since autosplit was introduce years ago or when BB1 and CV1 was able to enter blitz XD so we might live with it

Blitz splits use the GB formula which is doesn't work there.  As for ship counts - that doesn't matter.  The main thing is to avoid a 3bb/1cv or 1bb/3cv situation by starting before it gets to that count.

What is really needed for blitz is the a reclassification of Oyodo and Mog Hybrid into its own class which should also be balanced vs CVs.  This is the one thing that is very difficult as a host to even control.

I just played a Blitz game where the other side had a 1 CV, 1 BB, plus 2 overall ship advantage. 99.9% of the time that combo will be a winner. How did the game go? Huge surprise, it was a miserable, extremely boring slaughter. The only 'entertainment' was running from all the torpedoes because the other team seemed to have an overwhelming percentage of torpedoes to boot.

While that horrendously bad split - that should never occur in the game - is hardly unusual it reminded me of this thread I started and the importance of bumping it up so maybe NF will finally take notice.

The auto split is completely broken. Everyone knows it even the players who shrug it off as just another NF frustration to put up with.

The only reason the Great Battle spits isn't broken is because they always have the maximum amount of BBs and CVs to force a balance. That's not to say there aren't slaughters there (because the split algorithm isn't smart about player ability) but it's much, much better.

Ship count doesn't matter at all.  It's the class of ships that's important.  But in blitz 90% of the players have set up their ships wrong and nothing but a handicap to their team so it's a toss up to which team is better.  Now add to that the experienced players who throw off balance in the ff-dd-cl and so all you can hope for is it starts with some sort of class balance which is difficult to get with GB balance formula and hybrids.

The 3/1 - 1/3 split should be fixed but on I've seen the 1 cv or 1 bb team win quite a few times.  But I am sick of seeing 2 Mogs Hybrids and an Oyodo on  a team while the other team gets none.  They were able to give Kita/Kuma balance, is it that hard to do the same with the hybrids?

lol i have been in that position a lot in the weekend

 

example:

 

me in my fresh bb1 revenge against 2 bb and 1 cv plus 1 oyodo and some other ships while i dont have an oyodo at my side

result me and my team get slaughtered offcourse

We will have different opinions on how and why the balance is unfair.  Some might look at the total number of ships, others will look at classes.

But one thing we could throw back at SDE is the explanation the Psychohove and Vick11 gave me before.

Back in the day(Pre MN/CV/BB/Hybrid in blitz) , when Manual Balance was still possible, myself and a few others would stack blitz against ourselves.  I would place 3 frigates, a CL, and a CA vs 15-20 ships on the other team.  Of course the other team was outraged but we'd still win about 80% of those games.

People even came onto the forum to complain about it not to mention report us for it.  When I explained the nature of the balance and showed screenshots of how most games ended in a 2vs1 or 3vs1 type situation, TNF said it was okay and I was allowed to continue.

The ones who took it publicly were ridiculed and told~ you lost with 15+ ships, mostly of higher class.  You should be ashamed to even mention it.

Eventually I was asked to stop and the reason given was that we would often put our 1CA vs 3 or more + a large number of CLs on the team.  XP was not fair for the other team.  I knew they gave into the complaints but it was still a fair explanation.

So now we have auto balance giving one team 3bb/cv and the other team 1 cv or bb.  Is this not the unfair higher tier XP situation that was used as an explanation to stop my 5 vs 15 games?  So going back to what we were told then, should this not be fixed immediately or was it just a convenient reason yanked out of the rear?  It would be nice if Vick or Psycho had a response.

Today I've played for about 4 hours, mostly great battles. All of the games were comical slaughters. The last game I left was down to 3 ships versus 15 which reminded me I need to bump this thread back up on the support forums so that Navy Field doesn't forget that the auto splits are poorly programmed and need to be fixed.
