Alright. Been playing this game for about a month now. First 3 weeks were a BLAST. Was totally addicted. Then something strange hapenned... I suddenly came back down to earth as I learned that GB was uber crap.

I poured about 70$ in this game for now for some ships and sailors, premium, etc.

I'll probably be leaving soon tho. Gameplay in the "main" area being unbalanced and boring it ain't even funny. It's whoever pees the farthest.

GB, it's all about BB4+, CVs and SS. All else is just food or AA support in Emden, Reynaud or PCA. What's the point? I don't want to grind to BB4+ and then just "eat all I can" on the menu. I wouldn't want to impose this on anyone else having been on the receiving end. It's just totally sadistic.

Blitz on the other hand... If you play smart you can turn the tide of the battle in a little jaguar by sneaking behind enemy lines and taking down that annoying CV. A few well placed torps after carefull maneuvering can also totally turn the tides.

I'd very much like to continue playing this game and I know that at first Blitz didn't exist and that most long time hardcore players are GBs fanatics but...

If you want this game to remain alive, here are a few tips:

1- Remove all BBs ( including BCs, aka "BB1s" ) and CV2s from Blitz.
2- Remove sailor level cap from Blitz or allow sailor freeze at lvl60 ( sell an item if you want to milk on it, 10 olives each, I don't care )
3- Remove PCAs and CAs ability to use BB sized guns in Blitz.
4- Sit back and enjoy the ride.
Possible 5- Remove Kita from Blitz.
Possible 6- Maybe allow SS1 in Blitz.

No, I won't buy new sailors just for the 1 or 2 weeks of blitz fun, knowing that then they'll be banished with no chance of redemption to boringfield.

I think we should be allowed the choice to play whichever game mode suits us best. I prefer blitz, you prefer GB, everyone's happy.

Feeling this thread won't be very fruitful but I had to try. Flame on.

1- Remove all BB1s and CV1/2s from Blitz.
since theres a skirmish probably right

2- Remove sailor level cap from Blitz or allow sailor freeze at lvl60 ( sell an item if you want to milk on it, 10 olives each, I don't care )
been suggested and not gonna happen [+1 to want to be king of blitz]

3- Remove PCAs and CAs ability to use BB sized guns in Blitz.
cause its their default guns and with at level gunners they have slow reload and wide spread unless the player have UBER GUNNERS then your screw screwed

Possible 5- Remove Kita from Blitz.
kita is not a problem in blitz, its the player LAZINESS TO DODGE and NUBBIT MAP the common problem

Possible 6- Maybe allow SS1 in Blitz.
no problem with me, as long if they remove surface damage of PHH and allow it in blitz again

this guy probably didn't played bb4+ yet, poor guy tsk tsk... a bb2 or 3 or even 1 can sink something above if they know when to strike

Cool story bro.

NOT RECOMENDED.

You clearly have no idea on what are the main problems in this game. Try reading all the forums or play more than 6 months to realise that.

Try playing an AT LEVEL BB3 King George V / Prince Of Wales with blocking 14" Quad guns on a SpeedWhore set up, rush into the enemy that will never know what to do when they see you blocking at them closing in at 46+ knots. Sunk a few BB4/5s with it. Here is the tip: Map reading + Situation evaluation + Timing = Epic win. That in GB of corse.

In blitz, try to reach the highes CL ASAP, Armor it and put the bigest guns you can fit in, go kill ships, OR take a DD in GB with Dual purpose guns (AA + HE) and Depth Charges or HH/PHH and kill some planes and SS. Works wonders.

Have a Goodone.

It is indeed frustrating to be a light ship in GB.  It isn't much fun being a BB1 in GB either.

However, I found that in a small ship such as an FFY, DDX, or CL doing ASW in GB was challenging and a whole lot of fun.    I even set up an Odoyo as a sub hunter with Sonar, HH, and torp planes.

I got a sub but found that hunting them was more fun the driving them.

With the Odoyo, I enjoyed the planes, and ground my way to lvl 100 with USN and IJN CVs.
Over time I won ECVs, EBBs, elite sailors, premiums, vets, experts, HQ increases, etc. and never spent a buck.   My BB line lags waaaay behind the CVs.

I have high lvl neuts for my FFy and I have high lvl sailors on my ASW ships.  They always open a few eyes in GB.

I find that I get quite a few thank yous from BB players when a nail a sub that was after them.
Some have even asked me to "stick around" and cover their butts.

Of course, as a CV player, you always get bashed by BBs, but I'm playing for my enjoyment.  And its fun to make a bb5 run for cover as your flight of DBs come in.

The secret to having fun with this game is to find a place or part that you enjoy.    If you want to play blitz only, go ahead.  Figure out how to do it.

There are plenty of goals to set in this game, wheither it is lvling pilots, experimenting with armor, trying AA or ASW.  Accomplishing your goals is part of the fun.

Some of what you suggest was suposed to be solved with the new Skirmish room. But, since the XP in it is messed up no one uses it. Will it get fixed? Doubtful. Fixing such problems is not the NF way.

True, GB is a steep curve. It doesn't get fun again until you get to a BB3. By then you can do more than leach or take advantage of poor players. BB4 and up is where you can rock-and-roll again.

It can feel frustrating, but the most important thing to keep in mind is that nobody comes into the game with a BB4+.  ASW or AAW may not be your preferred method of play, but frankly both teach skills and awareness that I guarantee will make you a better player in the long run.  The patience required to be effective with either role will help you in realizing that winning a battle is much more about opportunity and taking advantage of it than it is going punch for punch with a BB5 vs a BB5.

Swatting down the scout hovering over your team's QV can leave the opponent blind and give the QV the opening to push in on the enemy line with you right behind and now suddenly you are within range of that opposing BB4 and can fire while he plays a guessing game of where you and the QV are and not knowing where to shoot.

While you are very limited in a CA/BB since you can't detect them, keeping your eyes peeled for that closing SS while you have HHs equipped can force him to change his route or be sunk which will 90% of the time mean your friendly CVs survive to launch another wave of fighters to keep control of the sky or bombers to punch enemy ships.

I like that you talked about liking tactics and being able to be effective, in your example talking about the blitz DD sneaking up on the CV.  Hopefully the examples above helped show a small example of the tactics involved in GB.  To be honest, each ship matters more in GB than they do in Blitz.  Blitz more often than not boils down to which team gets the Kitakami, which team has noob wannabe TWs who TK everybody, and most importantly which team has the TNF CA.  If you need a perfect example of why your proposed ability to lock your crew at level 60 is a bad thing, you need only be present in battle when their crews are in game.  In a GB, a BB6 is not autowin because there are a variety of ways to overcome and succeed against their superior range and power.  I've seen CV6s lose just as often as they win.

In Blitz, every ship that is effective is because of class/size or luck.  In GB, every ship that wants to be effective matters.  The patient DD can easily score 20k attack and help the team considerably for the win by detecting the approaching SS.  And if XP is what matters to you, as an experiment take a CA into blitz and record your gain from a solid win where you sink a couple ships and your team wins.  Take the same ship into a GB and shoot down 1 enemy plane, just 1.  Win or lose, compare the XP gain.

It is frustrating to know that other players will be able to beat you 1v1, just remember its not a 1v1 game.

so............

all the crashing the lag, the patches to fix patches, all of the op content, the deminishing comunity due to poor management, and the game leaning more and more to P2W is ok with you?

but make it to where we can have level 60 sailors in blitz consistantly is important to you?

who's 14th account is this?

is this deathblitz?

EvilDiabolik

Took the time to read every reply.

I agree with some of your arguments and I particularly liked Unsthable's input. Thanks :)

No, I don't want to P2W. No I don't want to be king of whatever. In fact I had the most fun in blitz in smaller ships likes a CL or DD as opposed to those who like to rule the seas in Courbets or blockshotting CAs.

My main concern with GB is that a BB1/2 can't make or break his luck. Too much airplane coverage, too much range to the bigger ships. In most games you can't even fire a single shell at an enemy because they're always out of range, or despite your best efforts to thwart their vision, you just can't sneak in at all for a single shell to hit.

Whereas in blitz, you can take a frigate 01 and get shell hits in any game you play, litteraly, unless you run into a torp wall or something like this.

I guess it's just that quite simply the GB's gameplay just doesn't fit my idea of fun. Being one shotted or shot when youre always out range and canm't do anything about it cause the higher tier and BIGGER ships are WTH? FASTER? than smaller ships, common it just doesn't make any sense... What was the max speed of an Iowa class or Missouri in 2nd WW? Compare it to the game, and don't even get me started on the turning rates.

I don't want something too realistic either... But the accuracy of the higher tier ships and their speed/turning rates as well as tank makes the lower classed ships just look like fodder.

Heck, in that regard I'd praise Battlestations gameplay cause at least a DD, or even a PT boat can get close enough for a torp spread and do some damage to that sniping BB before sinking even if the BB saw him coming all along.

I sincerly hope that World of Warships ( no never played that other "WoW" game, it looked boring ;) ) will better suit my tastes, until then I'll take Unsthable's advices and run with em and try to reapply them better ( cause yes, I did read everything I could before going GB in regard to the mechanics involved and how to be usefull at low lvl ) and see what happens.

As for the lag, crashing and code related game issues, I can't comment on them, as I have no idea how to code, whereas I do have an idea about videogames enjoyment being a relatively old ( back to colecovision/atari/NES ) player.

Cheers!

P.S.: Mods, you can lock this thread, nothing to see here. ;)

Yes, they make it that way, some kind of reward to lv-up sailor up to CV/BB456 against lower lv sailor/ship. It'll be more frustating if u drive around in BB45 and sunk by 4-5 shots from DD/CL.

BB12 still can make a shot if they make their timing is right.

BB3 are capable to close in and sunk BB456.

U just need to observe more in GB, its diff from Blitz and more exp gained here.
