I am having an issue opening the launcher.

-laptop
-win 7 x64
-core 2 duo x2 Ghz
-6 gig ram
-only user of laptop
-run as admin

So, to give a description of what happens, I run the launcher as admin and I get a message saying "Windows cannot access the  specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." Then I get Error code 0xFA4C.

To try and fix this problem I have rebooted my computer, tried to re-install Navy field, gave full permissions to the files to all users (admin, name-PC, etc...) then I tried a system restore to an earlier time when it worked. I then tried to update my install shield and re-install after removing all traces from my computer, including the registry. None of these has solved my problem, any help?

Did you un-install NF from the control panel? or did u just delete the files?

I uninstalled from the control panel then deleted any remaining files associated with it before updating my install shield and re-trying installation.

OK I know this sounds dumb but I assume you are using a desktop shortcut to launch the game?

If you are delete it and then go to the game folder and right click on the launcher and send to desktop
as shortcut close and try again

Have you run a virus scan?

Something is blocking access to the game files, can you see the folders and files inside?

Virus scan is clean. As for ther games I play some with steam, but I have no problems playing those and I can see every file in my navyfield/SD EnterNET folders. I have given full control to every file in those folders. Would running in compatibility mode maybe help the problem?

No need for compatibility mode BUT you MUST shut down Steam totally before starting NF
Most anti cheat software does not play well with other anti cheat software.

Especially Punkbuster...

I just went through my processes and ended anything irrelevant including steam, again no help. I'm starting to think I would have to format my computer.
