Pretend it's not there and play like usual just like I do with item drops. If I get one great, if not then I don't notice.  It's something that's not needed but fixating on it isn't much better.

why abondon, instead it can be fixed or changed, maybe the number of medals required for prizes should be lowered, like to 50% or so.

Its not necesary to abandon it, change the instance where you can find those medals to GB and or skirmish, change the frequency when the medals are gained from 0.01% to 5-10% of the battles you make, pretend that has never been applied and keep playing GB.

End of solution. 

Honestly, they should just do this.

1. Change it swo that you get medals in GB and Skirmish, either along with WaW, or dump WaW as a chance at earning them.

2. Increase the perentage from 0.01% (Who thought that was a good idea?) to aroung 5-10%, like stealth001 said.

3. Decrease the prices for medals. 200 medals a ship? Honestly, it's not worth it, unless you half them, or knock them down by 25%.

4. You should make it so that when purchasing things with olives, it should be like 1 every 1-20 olives, instead of one every 50. WORST IDEA EVER!!!! Who thought that was a good idea?????? Honestly, fix this or the game: Your choice. Obviously, you will fix neither, so why did I ask you this? To give you another shot at it. Obviously, player feedback isn't important anymore. End of discussion.

Reson i dont want hero sailor crew(legal nf hack) which cost 50medal per sailor 
If it come to GB situation will be even worse
But who have $ can already now buy hero crew , I sincerely doubt someone will pay so much $ on buged game with so low number of players but its posible which suck

Fix the bugs and increase server capacity
