Sorry this I made this while in a bad mood so it comes out at a bad rant rather than a reasonable suggestion.

#1 Manual MIGHT be better with 6inch+ guns. I dont have any level 100+ gunners so Manual and Auto FCS have the same accuracy/spread to me. NOT THE TOPIC ISSUE.

#2 auto FCS is MUCH, MUCH BETTER with close range guns like the mortars. Manual screws up the turning speed, gun synchronisation, rate of fire, and accuracy. You cant "hip-shoot" with it.

#3 manual allows people to use AA weapons. thats nice, but the accuracy, rate of fire, and my guns freezing after almost every volley HURTS ALOT.

#4 manual is very bad with mortars, but I dont think they would offer much to torpedoes.

AA GUNS NEED RAPID FIRE, QUICK TURNING, AND SYNCHRONIZED GUNS, none of which the manual FCS allow.  So Automatic FCS WOULD be a better match if the admins actually allowed AA fire with Auto FCS.

Thats the suggestion, allow Height changing for guns while using automatic FCS.

Manual AA is indeed more accurate. You can cross your guns down the middle to hit planes with all shells and aim for the farthest distance max height shot. It's supposed to be difficult and is one major reason why BW CV are still a problem, because we all suck. If aim,shoot,aim,shoot,aim,shoot is too much complex then there is always NF-fixer.

 

I've never found Auto AA to be useful. I can't cross my guns and the aiming is inverted. I believe this is so you click where the plane shadow is and it will shoot for you, but auto assumes every plane is at max height. Just bad.

@OP: Get yourself a European IP (via hotspotshield or similar) and go play NF2.

phantom3553 is just doing the using trollface thing more experienced players do. Its not helpful, its just a way to avoid necessary therapy.

well the link phantom posted does explain how to rotate your turrets faster, because your turrets turn as fast in manual aiming as they do in auto aiming. (it's gun depending, not fcs) Try the "ctrl" button to switch on & off the faster gun movement.
 
With low lvl AA gunners you will have a hard time killing a lot of planes with both types of FCS, simply because your reload isn't very fast. i'd advise to try a high calibre gun so you are able to oneshot an airplane, because your reload won't allow for a 2nd volley before the plane has passed. 
Downside is that you need to get your angles right on the first shot, so look at the golden angle of your AA gun & then practice until you get the hang of the sniping mode.

Since the rankings say you're at lvl 43 it's no shame to not have mastered manual aiming allready, but you should start using it pretty soon, in a CA you allready have a considerable disadvantage if you're using auto aiming, not only for AA purposes.


improving anything on auto FCS isnt going to happen, since they reduced the auto FCS not to long ago, believing that they'd be making improvements to it would be hoping for a miracle.

Most of what you explain in your edited post is due to lack of practice really. Manual FCS is very good on those things you say it doesn't allow.

The reality is that:
- Manual is more accurate and you can cross your lines which means you concentrate ALL fire in a single point. (Auto FCS doesn't allow to cross the lines)
- Turning speed is the same with both as it depends on the gun used, not FCS.
- Gun Synchronization depends on the player, not FCS. Although in the case of Auto FCS, it assists the player in this. You can also use the F4 button to select all guns to fire at the same time.
- Rate of Fire depends on the gun and sailor ability, not FCS.



What you percive right now is normal for a new player as Manual FCS is not something easy to learn, but it has great benefits over Auto FCS.
