Currently, the game is suffering from a two part problem, First, at times when I get to the log in screen, I am unable to log in, there is music, but I can't type or anything.

Second part of the problem: The game freezes at log in screen... Forced to Ctrl+alt+delete to get out of the frozen window. Once I had to do a hard reset.

PC
Windows 7  64 bit
AMD Phenom II x6 1060T 3.2 ghz,
10 gigs of ram

game installed in Program files (x86)
Compatability is set to windows 98/me
Runs as admin
It a clean instal(only week old)
There is no error logs created by this freeze as the game is still running (It actually says in task manager running) but it frozen and unresponsive.

Is enough RAM allocated to that part of your OS?

Try not running in compatibility mode. Just run as admin.

just for a head's up, Navyfield has some issues and it's best to wait abit.  Also that AMD processor aint so good also it aint really a true 6 core.

Try getting a intel 4 core i7 that can overclock past 4.3ghz. you will need good cooling for the overclocking.

This game should work fine on a Pentium 4 or an Intel Atom.

I do run as admin, and not running in compatibility mode has the same effect.

To be honest, navyfield been having some issues for years now, as for the AMD proc not being a true 6 core, is a fallacy, as for over clocking, I can over clock my CPU to 4.2 ghz before overheating becomes a problem.

As a computer tech, and a programmer,  I think I know enough about computers to make my own choice in procs, thanks. I'm looking for a software solution, not a hardware one that is based on a Fallacy.

Have you tried the other compatibility settings besides win 98/me? If so, are the results the same what all settings?

huh, the AMD Thuban Phenom II processors have 6 K10 physical cores, with 6 sets of L1 and L2 cache per core and shared L3 cache. Intel uses shared L3 cashe as well in every core series processor (From the Core 2 Duo, the 800 and 900 i series, sandybridge, ivybridge and even the current Haswell.

AMD doesn't have (Intel Copyrights) hyperthreading, and doesn't uses logical cores like Intel in consumer based processors, as simply the AMD's cores are not designed for having more than 1 set of logical instructions per core.

Where as an core series processor is designed for up to 2 sets of logical instructions per core. aka Hyperthreading. Where you have a single physical core have 2 logical cores run on it.

Its not efficient, no where near Intel's per core calculation performance, but the Phenom II 1000-1100 are true 6 core processors. Just like the 6 core i7s are true 6 core processors.

As long as you have enough memory, the game can run on a single core processor underclocked to 300 MHz (Well, you'll kill the processor if you did that)

I have made a quick hotfix to the game that helps me get around the freeze at the log in screen.

First, I will note this, just cause it worked for me, doesn't mean it will work for you, second: I am not responcable for any damage you caused to your system if you use this hotfix for yourself.

First, I clone the shortcut two times.

The first clone I left at my default settings, compatability mode is 98/me, disable desktop composition, and disabled visual themes.

Second, one the shortcut clones (with the same settings!) I've added the /affinity 0 to the first clone, and /affinity 1 to the second short cut.

Now what that does is forces the game to run on either core 1 or core 2 depending on the affinity tag you gave it. Of course you can make it run on other cores as well using the affinity tag, but I suggest just leaving it to the core one or core two settings.

Now for what this does, when I'm running the game, and the game suddenly crashes (or freezes at the log in) I will use the next shortcut in the loop to get it running again. Then Rinse, and repeat.

This is MY hotfix, the reasons why it works, I do not know. I have some theories, but otherwise I don't know why this fixes it on my end.
