Hello. because I like to know the reason for the change in boat speed.
The J39 is to become a Collector ship now.
  comparisons:

H41 = 8 slot, 40 knots (level of the crew)
H39 = 7 slot, 40 to 42 knots (level crew)
J39  = 7 slot, 37 knots.

J39 is a boat that no longer worth having it.
The best option now is the H41.

This is my observation.

Obviously you look on one particular stats and you don't look outside of the box.

You have to see the fact that J39 is basically a BB 4.9 Because of its guns, whose range can match up with the H44s.

This thread is based on fundamental flaws that anybody who paid attention to the stats and discussion would recognize in a heartbeat.

ALL EBB4.5s have 7 support slots, the same as a regular BB4, ALL EBB4.5s are slower than their respective BB4s, and most are slower than the associated BB5s as well. This is to compensate for having BB5 guns, and to keep them inferior to proper BB5s.

By comparison, ALL EBB4s are just slightly buffed (extra ammo, more DP) BB4s with an extra support slot. EBB4s were designed to help leveling by both breaking up a long grind (14 levels - experience penalties kick in after 10 levels above the ship) and allowing more sailors to be leveled at once.

For everyday play (GB), and leveling, EBB4s are better. However, in World at War, as well as organized team play such as HA or fleet wars, I'd choose the extra range of EBB4.5s over the extra speed and support slot in almost every case.

J-39 is going 37 knts as it has always been. I don't see the change in speed.

There has been an increase in displacement with this morning's patch which set the speed to 22/37 for all normal setups. Before that, I could go 23/39 with a J39 without AA (and probably some other weight taken off).

Removing an unintended setup is not something I would consider "changing the boat speed" as it was never intended to run like that.

J-39 was set up to run 37 from the start and it is still running at 37knts. Speed has not been changed.

Sigh.

All these semantics. The fact remains that with minimal effort, until this morning you could run a J39 at 23/39. I didn't say that speed was "changed", I said it was "set".

I know you didn't say the speed was changed, the OP did and I was answering his claim.

He asked to know the reason for the speed change to 37knt... I said speed has not changed as the j-39 always sailed at 37knts.

We just missed 2050 displacement space when introduced that allowed people to go faster by taking advantage of it and removing crew/armament when they shouldn't have and it was fixed.
