  • Problem with monitor crashing?

Running on a whole new rig and NF is providing a problem (as always). After hitting the play game on the launcher it seems as though my monitor restarts (the little HDMI box shows up to show what im plugged into the card through), similar to the way a tv would if you switced inputs. The navyfield.exe has stopped working message comes up and the game is closed.

How do you fix it? I've had problems similar to this with other games (mostly war thunder) but not to the point where i can't even play, and this didnt happen on the old rig or monitor.

GTX 760
ASUS VE228H, plugged in through HDMI.
i5 4670k @ 4.4 GHZ
ASUS z87-pro mobo
Games installed on a WD Black 1 TB HDD, OS is on an SSD.

Just curious....
is your monitor from XP era and if so, you may have to reinstall drivers that came with it if you have them.  Some monitors seem stubborn when changing video cards or Operating Systems. I have had to install monitor driver from enclosed CD to get it to work with Win 7 or some of the newer video cards.
Not all monitors have driver CD included as they are Plug-n-Play.

ViewSonic is an example of older monitor incompatability with newer operating systems. :(

As far as i know it's relatively new in terms of technology and whats inside it, i just bought it in maybe november or october so its really not that old. And afaik there were no CDs in the box with it or anything of the sort, just a DVI cable and the stand.

Ouch. There may be a conflict between game programing and video card? Sometimes a game is not upgraded to where it can cooperate with the latest and greatest technology.

scroll down to the Reviews tab and to look at other computer users comments to get an idea of pros and cons regarding your video card:

If that is an ASUS card you can visit the ASUS website and download drivers associated with that card. Not sure if that is an evga card you have.

It's an MSI, got it through newegg. The problem is its not only NF that i have issues with, but NF is the only one where i cannot play at all. All drivers are up to date, each piece of hardware that has drivers came with software for updating them. Any other ideas?

The only other reason I can think of is the DirectX 11 where there may be an incompatibility issue. Maybe a faulty card? I would try a different monitor before I condemned the graphics card though. If the issue continues with a different monitor, it could be a bad motherboard connection/connector, bad video card or your version of DirectX may have conflict with game programing.  For video card compatability issues you can contact the manufacturer at 1-626-913-0828.
The MSI website is http://us.msi.com/ and your card may be listed among these here:
http://us.msi.com/product/vga/#?fp=GeForce 700 Series&sk=Geforce GTX 760

There are 5 different video cards made by MSI based on the GTX 760 model.

I'll give things a shot with another monitor. I actually have a similar one (was going to use a dual setup but the borders were pretty thick). I'll see how it works tomorrow. I'm hoping its not the gfx card cause that thing was a royal pain to fit in this case, let alone getting it back out and having to plug more wires back in..

From what I can tell the Mon resolution and the game resolution are in conflict and the monitor is refusing to switch to the resolution the game requires, hence the crash.

Try setting the monitor to 1024/768 and then start the game, that will tell you what the issue is.

IF that is it then you need to set the GFX card to allow that resolution or set a "preset" for the NF to reset the view to 1024/768

The problem is its not just NF, but NF is the one that is being the biggest problem. It worked a couple months ago but i never tried it again, then after it finished updating this week this all started.

Changing the res didnt help, nor did the other monitor.

If u use the "Nvidia GeForce Experience" , deaktivate it and Try again. Cause NGE try´s to Optimize NF or other Games to the best perfomance.
