First it kind of  depends what you are attempting to do?

If you want to do great in HA level 6 ft 2 scout.

If you want to dominate planes in GB and give sight level 6 ft 2 scout.

If you want to kill planes and sink ships level 5 ft 3 tb/db.

For stats you want the highest you can get in the primary stat for that type i.e.

Fighter = Fighter stat
Bomber = bomber stat
Scout  = Aircraft stat

You will also want one Seaman +12 or +13 or +14 in Fighter.

Best sailor is a hero sailor that is +14 in every stat.

Next is elite that is +13 in the primary stat.

Then next is rolled +12's.

Keep in mind that fighters depend alot on Vets and Experts, the more the better.

Also it is recommended in most cases not to class a Fighter pilot past the Fighter promotion. This has to do with the crew growth being more valuable that the small percentage of stat boost.

P.s. There are many different variable's in how you may want to outfit your cv. Know that in the CV6 you will need 8 pilots, 1 Bo and 3 other sailors (one atleast should be seaman)

Perfect would be a Hero sailor for Seaman, on of hte best uses for them.

If not hero get the best stat in FT to boost the fighters ability.  The bombers would get a boost if you had bomber stat but they do just fine without that. The fighters go up vs other fighters where the stats are all important.

Use rld-rld-rld if you want to fire AA or HH.

Also onother option is to have two repairers to make the cv tougher to kill.

I personally use gunners to fire HH at subs.
