I've been playing Gneisenau for a few games (~10 to 20) using the lvl 63 11''L triplets. I have to say, these guns are absolute garbage! I mean, it has good range, but the spread is awful, and the damage is laughable. What were designers thinking when they develop these guns??? Ok, I get that to offset the ridiculous range by bb2 standards, they had to nerf other aspects to fit with KM nation characteristics, but must they do it to this extreme? I mean, I am using lvl 90 special sailors with 200 vets as gunners, and my spread still very bad. I cringed to think what my spread would be like with at-level gunners with only 100 vets. And the damage, it's pathetic. I once hit a DD with a shell for 500 damage. 500 damage with a BB shell? Granted DDs get better submergence against BB caliber guns, but anything less than 1000 should not be consider a BB weapon.  The combination of bad spread and low shell damage makes the ship really hard to drive in GB environment. Sure, you can get in range easily with the range and speed of ship, but you can't do much damage with these guns before you either get sunk by return fire, or force to retreat. And KM ships are not known for being able to take damage. I think my max damage with these guns is 30K, which in any other bb2 (i've played US and UK BBs) is mediocre at best. These guns would be much more competitive if it could trade a bit of that range for a tighter spread or higher shell damage.

Well, now that my rant is over, I'll maybe try to duel 15''s. Most people I see use those anyway (now I know why...)

Ahh, the old KM 11" rant.

You know, once upon a time, the 15" weren't useable because they had phenominally bad range (all of them). As such, we had to use the 11" from Scharnhorst through the Bismarck/O-Project II, until we got the H39. I'm afraid the sympathy will be lacking. :P

Having been through that grind, I know full well they hit for only about 1200-1500 per shell, and even a Bismarck is unlikely to manage much more than 18k per salvo. However, with good gunners and played well, you can do quite a bit of damage with the 11", especially against BB3 and lower. You just have to play it right, which is admitedly not easy.

True useable gun for KM BB2 is 14,96" .

 

Forget the 11", they are just retarded. Fact is, that crap has low end BB4 range, has an absolutely idiotic damage and idiotic spread.

 

In BB room, it doesn't shine either. If you want bb2 shining in those room, take KGV use QE guns and put 9" deck on it. You will bounce all of the BB2, even those that got 45 degree angle. It has fantastic range, and great damage for just 6 shells.

Good job going KM ! I still believe it's the only nation which teaches you how to play a battleship well. 

Good luck & the guns have always been low on damage, you need to learn to play with it. Don't worry, all original KM guns are weak on damage however it doesn't mean that they are crap.

Like Joris said KM will teach valuable lessons about BB driving. I started NF with KM line, I suffer and almost quit several times because of bad spread, lack of damage, cristal decks, etc.
But KM lessons allow me to start other nations and reach the BB5 level in 35% of time and now how to use properly AA in every nation, including UK and RM.

KM will teach you to be a complete player, and will teach you patience to place the shoot when is the moment.

I don't understand what you find wrong with my statements.

my best game is around 30K in this ship. Is that too high or too low for your expectations? If it's too low, maybe you could share some advice for driving the ship using these guns?

"mediocre" is perhaps the wrong word. A better word would be "average". My point is that I have had much better games in other BB2s than this one. Of course, the sample size is much bigger for other BBs, so not exactly a fair comparison.

Spread is poor compare to other BB2 guns I've used (and not using 90 special sailors). I think anyone that have used these guns and US and UK bb2 guns would come to same conclusion.

BB gun damage - I just picked a number, what number would you pick?

Maybe you should just say how you really feel, instead of making such veiled derisive comments.

You will need a really fast ship to make use of the 11" L gun effectively.
For example, running beyond 50knt of speed.
So, don't use 11" for grinding, use 14.96" instead.
We all KM player understand your pain.

That 11" gun 'can' kill armor whore L1 in 2 shot, however, not at good for you now.
When you can move like 52knt speed , you can even mess with super yamato, however, not for now.

All KM ship are pain-at-level.
If you have completed other nation, you may consider carrying your sailor by the 120s.

Try this guns with 120lvl guners and you fint some thing, sprad is rather OK, demage is avarage ,and you have some combo in BB2 longest range and fastest BB2. and medium size BC. So only your probem is battlefield border.

Whot do you want with this guns ? sdame dmag as 14' or 15' other nations ? Km at low leve BB have 2 main advatage against other nations BB2, speed and range and small size versus same speed ship. UK BC are slover and larger, US same. Kongo with 12,2' hase same problem but have 8 guns not 9.

For you there is only problem thah all BB guns is balanced for 120 lvl guners.

As another people says on KM BB2 use 15' (nearly) gun set and you will enjoy best km spead in gmae and one of best spread in BB2-BB3 at all. (only UK blockshot 14D and 14N have better spread then you.)

The DD have great demage submergence, so 500 dmg is the worst dmg thaht you can recive. UK 15' gun (and all 15 excluding silly italian) do to DD baout 1000, and to BB abaut 2500.

Dou you knowe something called AP rounds ?

I thing yes, and at max range AP will penetrate 9'.
