  • Cannont Run under a virtual machine (Win7)

I have not played NF for a long time, and I wanted to try it out again; however, after I downloaded it, installed it (clean install), and installed the Win7 support file, it crashed whenever I try to load the game with this error message,

"Sorry, this game cannot run under a virtual machine."

I have a Win7 x64 laptop, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @2.20GHz, and 8.00 GB of ram.

I have tried running it with compatibility off and on (for WinXP), but with no luck.


Any help resolving this issue would be nice.

try this fix

First go to your file directory and find the SD EnterNET folder

right click on the applications select properties then select compatability

ENFUNSUpdater

NavyFIELD Launcher

NavyFIELD

untick the box for the compatability mode

tick the disable desktop composition

I did this for all 3 applications just to be safe

now navyfield works fine for me

but did you check it without the patch?

Do you mean the Win7 patch?

If so, yes. I have tried it with and without the Win7 patch.

The Win 7 patch is almost useless. Mine would not run with it. But there is a possible fix listed in this thread.

You can also try to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable if it isn't.  The game was, as far a I know, written with these instructions and has helped some people get the gme working.

Thank you! As I was doing this, I realized that I was missing a compatability setting that was still on. (I can be stupid sometimes haha.)

Thank you to everyone else for their help. It seems to be running fine now.

I also run with visual themes disabled. I very rarely crash.
