  • Game crashes at mainmenu

    04. 01. 2014 15:14

CptCheerios

The game crashes at the main menu, or on the license agreement (typically within the first 2-30 seconds after the cutscenes have played.

I have removed the prior installation of NavyField (per online instructions) reinstalled and used the windows 7 support application as well.  It just crashes on the main menu.

Windows 7 64Bit
AMD 7970 - 13.12 drivers (latest non beta drivers)
8 GB ram.
Installed at C:\Program Files\SD EnterNET
I do not see an APPCRASH file to post up here inside the navyfield folder or a post as to where else it might be located.

This is the details about the issue.

How to navigate to your computer's NavyFIELD Crash Reports:
You may have to open the file with Notepad ....

Click on START button => Click on Computer => Click on the icon representing typically Drive C or Hard Disk/Hard Drive that game is on => Click on Program Files folder (not the x-86 one) => Find and Click on SD EnterNET folder => Click on the NavyFIELD folder => Find the NavyFIELD RPT file and open with Notepad.

There is where you find the full crash information.

Although I am not at liberty to discuss the exception numbers you posted in your crash rpt file, I can offer this pointer provided by Windows 7 O/S:

First, right click the NF icon on your desktop/laptop

then click on the option highlighted by red circle. Follow the instructions

I suggest choosing the recommended settings, then click it.

My NF application seems to run better with win xp service pack 2 but that can be changed later. Click on Start the program.

Click on the NavyFIELD program to bring it to the front and click Play Game!

After a game or two, bring desktop back up (this seems to work whether you keep game client running or exit it) Click on the Next button

Which navigates you to this screen

Click on the option that best suits you. If you pick the No, try using different settings option, you can choose to run NavyFIELD with the Windows 98/ME settings.

Windows XP Service Pack 2 seems the best one for me.

After you select the setting that works for you, the next pop-up will simply notify you that an incompatible program was detected (Windows 7) and the application will now run on your selected setting. You can troubleshoot the NavyFIELD application compatibility as many times as you want if you feel the need to try a different setting.

Enjoy the game!
