  • Navyfield won't play on 1024x600

I got a small laptop thingy and it only has 10.1" of screen length. I downloaded and installed the game in this computer, and then after pressing the "play game" button, the whole screen went black. I was waiting for the loading screen, i alt tabbed. And then the Navyfield log in music played, i tabbed back to the game again, and its like the screen is blinking fast. Like black screen to desktop to black screen to desktop flash.  I killed the game after that, alt ctrl del, but my computer crashed.

The computer runs on Windows XP

Basically the quesiton is: Can I play navyfield on a smaller than standard screen?

When I am playing on my PC that has as much much much much longer monitor screen length, it streatches the navyfield game, like it is not proportional ( so i have to set my monitor to smaller screen) . The point is, the game can stretch to fit into a larger monitor, but can it like squeeze the game to projection to fit in a smaller screen.

Simple answer: no it can't.

The only resolution NF is playing at is 1024 x 768. If your monitor can handle more, it is displayed (sometimes stretched), if the monitor's native resolution is less, it runs but shows a black screen.

What if I connect the laptop to a bigger monitor? Would that work?

Might netbook can actually play it with 1024x600.  But the downside is it scrolls the screen up and down to make up the difference.

I'm sorry I can't remember exactly what I did several years ago to allow for that to happen only for NF.  Back on desktop the screen doesn't move around.

But if your small lap top / netbook has a monitor plug you can indeed output through there and adjust the resolution for NF.

I used to play like this on my old Asus netbook. The "ASUS TRAY UTILITY" thing could make NF work as you describe.

If you do not have Asus you should check the relevant software shipped with your netbook anyway, you might find a way to do it there too. Also check for options in your native graphic card software.

But if you don't mind using the external monitor, it would probably be a simpler solution and of course it's more enjoyable not having to scroll your screen around during battles.

I dusted off the netbook.  On mine it was right clicking the desktop and choosing graphics properties.  From there I could fool around with the display options.

If your netbook has less than 3 GBs of RAM, don't even bother.

NF uses 1 GB and Windows 7 and 8 use 1 GB on average.

Also, netbooks aren't really designed to run any games. They were designed as light weight web browsers, which modern Smart Phones and tablets have completely replaced.

The Intel Graphics coupled with all the Intel Atom generations since Netbooks were innovated will allow you to force 1024x768 resolution on the 1024x600 displays. This is accesable via the Intel Graphics Properties Tray.

You can then use the Resizing properties to Fit to Screen (Which will vertically compress it to fit) or Aspect Ratio (Which will produce two vertical black bars on either side.)

The later generation Netbooks plugged in should support 1366x768 with zero lag on external displays. The eariler generations might lose 5ish FPS (Which the game engine only produces 25-26 per display device anyway.)
