  • Skeleton BO on Subs

Hi there,
to skeletonize, i.e. to reduce rookies to a minimum, a BO on a submarine is common wisdom nowadays, because this negatively affects guidelines and shell impact splash detection only, both of which are not needed on an SS.

HOWEVER,
Long LONG ago, I heard (read, actually) rumors about skeletonizing BOs, and that this also negatively effects Turning ability or (turning force, as it is called in NF).
Now, each time I look at my skeletonized BO, this rumour nags on me...

Has anyone at all run some tests about this? Or is this something completely unheard-of / "not even remotely possible" ?

makes sense ... and there is a tuner item for turning force - so it IS there

remains to be determined if its a ship-only factor like aaw .. or if BO adds

but sounds like his job = drive the ship = turning skillz .... so ... plausible

keeping sailors on your BO will allow you to see torps as far as your Sonar.

If you don't have quick reflexs, keep a good amount of sailors on your BO.

ok, regarding the testing then.

does it affect only ship tree classified boats or all of them?

for example, you can test skeleton sub BO's turn rate on premium and event ships too, since you probably have a not trimmed/skeleton BB or CV BO.

but if it's tied to a ship tree, it'll be hard to test, since you gonna need 2nd sub BO, fully crewed.

Now regarding skeleton sub BO, it's worth doing that:
for speed (the reduced weight),
ability to drive lower tier subs,
more bulge/belt armour.

The only usefull feature right now which you loose by skeletonizing sub BO is, torpedo spotting range.
And the additional repair and soft defence stat provided by BO, which is very small.
I would rather fit in another repairer, because of skeleton BO and trimmed to 1.06mil true ability torpers (saved weight remember?).

Where's richardphat, a good tester when you need one? ;)

there was a time when it made sense to have a nice vetted BO for a sub.

now that most sailors and their jobs have been nerfed..... pretty much no point in having a sub BO.

try this for the new backwards NF.

make a (edit) repair/ restore base sailor. only class him a nation, and let him ride on everything until level 105+. now on this BO you make sure he has only 1 rookie that will soon enough die. (make sure you do not refill him). there is a secret in a truly "ghost" BO that only few know.

shhhh... do not let the test team know.

I don't think you've actually read the OP, did you?
