Did anyone use seaman as bo on e/p bbs? I am wondering whether seaman gives long enough sight range for guns. If not, I dont need to buy one to use on my ebbs with high level requirement.

Thanks.

Well, a seaman works OK as BO. You might actually have too long guidelines, if he is high level and has lots of vets and experts.

So the problem would not be that your guidelines aren't long enough, but rather, too long.

I have even used an engineer with good potential stat as BO on an EBB.

Thanks for your answer.

The reason I asked this question is that the ability for the potential of seaman is shown very low, and sometimes less than 100 even at lvl120. I am concerned about whether it gives long enough guide lines.

By the way, do you remember the potential of the engineer you used for EBB?

I have just put one of my seamen on the H41's BO spot. Guidelines are a bit longer (1-2 pips) than the guns' range. This is the seaman:

The seamans displayed ability is not the same as other sailors.

The seamans ability is (according to NF) a percentage number.
Its not a true percentage,  i.e. a displayed ability of 100 is not 100%.

The number displayed appears to be a multiplier used to determine
the percentage of boost a seaman gives to other sailors.

In tests run by myself and others show that the boost appears to
be non-linear and not a straight percentage.   It also appears that the
boost is greater at lower lvls and seems to diminish at higher lvls.
Perhaps reaching a cap.

However, it does appear that the higher the seamans ability in a particular
skill, the greater the boost in that skill.    So a seaman with a high Potential
number should be a good BO.

Personally, I'd rather have a regular BO instead of a seaman.   Its a long grind
to lvl a BB BO and I'd rather  the BO would get the exp pts.

Good info!

I can only assume you don't need a B.O for this line and you are trying to maximize your grinding slots, using a seaman as B.O because you think it will be least effective in the support slot compared to other sailors?

Or is there some other wonderfully devious reason for this?

Just curious.

P.S

Odd point to note:-

I put an engy on B.O slot of Moltke and got the same increase in OH/REP and speed that I would if i put it on a support slot. However I did not get the same result for the EBB Bismark.

Well, exactly this is the difference between PCA/PBB/PCV and EBB/ECV: a premium ship's BO slot also works like a full support slot, whereas an event ship's BO slot doesn't (you are just free to put any sailor as BO, if he has the required level).

I see. Thanks for the knowledge which is very helpful for me.

I play test mission by US EBB6 California.

BOP is Lev.120 Cheaf Seaman.

Angle is max (40degree) and sight range is extend to far away.

His potential ability is only 156, but it is not true.

Maybe  1300 or more.

When your seaman is level up by battle, you can see real potential ability.

Please note the information in the sailor to be displayed on the screen.
