Firstly, AW in blitz especially Hobbit is a perfectly viable option especially these days. 2nd, how you play is your business and I should shut up. I guess I saw you as an experienced player so I couldn't help but hope you were gunning from afar to show people that in the end range + scouts will win you games (and better prep for GB) - that's where the bashing came from.
I never played Blitz for XP so I never paid too much attention to it except for when I seemed to get a lot. Those tended to be games with minimum or close to minimum # of players + CV/BB +CA involved and I ended up doing considerable attack. I did play a 16 player game with pretty much all DDs. That was really low. When the games get larger it's hard to really keep track of what ship class you did most of your attack to + things seem to get watered down more due to sharing with more people. Of course these were just simple half drunk observations and probably not very accurate.
Generally speaking blitz tend to earn lower tier ships better credits and points. GB is better for XP. AAing yields good amounts of both if you do reasonably well. I've found torp related credit and point gain to be fairly bad esp in GB.
Curious if you or someone else noticed ~example: do 50K attack (10K to BB/CV, 40K to DD) vs a total of 8K only to a BB/CV. Assuming both are wins - the 8K attack resulted in better XP. It's like the attack on lower tier ships watered down everything. Let's just say it's consistently inconsistent.
