ECL(25) Reynaud

Copy of the KM Emden. You can mount x2 3.5“/50 cal Model 1929 A AA guns on it. They have awesome range, and muzzle velocity, but on close ranges they aren't the best and you need really good gunners to use them.

PCL(38) Gamelin

I don't have it, but I suppose it's more or less useless like all other PCL.

PCA(53) Mandel

It's a Moltke copy with a nice paintjob. With the x2 12"/45 cal Model 1910 guns of the Courbet this ship has more firepower than any other PCA. You also have many options to mount strong anti air or anti submarine weapons to T slots, while it's still reasonably fast. That's why this ship is better than any CA, PCA, and BB1 in the game.

PBB(61) Dunkerque

It's the counterpart of the well known RN Dunkerque. This ship was made for rushing. With high level crew it's easy to maintain 25/42 Knt. and with it's semi blockshoting quads it's a very fun ship to play. It's possible to mount x2/x4 5.1"/45 cal Model 1932 A guns for AA purposes but it's better to have some HH instead. It has 8 support slots but there's only 4 slots on the ship. Unlike the other three PBB it's a real funship, not just a grinder.

EBB1(50) Danton

This ship intended to use x2 12"/45 cal Model 1906 guns wich are probably the best EBB1 guns in the game. They have BB3 range and great damage/shell. The problem is, that you can't mount more than two of them on the R slots. The T slots are probably the largest in the game (174 space), but you only have 3/side so they are more or less useless. It's possible to mount 5,1" quads for AA purposes but this option makes this ship too slow, and other AA or ASW guns just aren't strong enough if you have only 3 of them. It has 6 support slots.

EBB2(71) Provence

I don't have this ship, but as I know it's nice. It has twice as much x2 12"/45 cal Model 1906 guns like Danton which gives this ship great range and firepower. It has 7 support slots. The only problem with this ship is that there's a much better ship three levels above, that's called...

...EBB3(74) Le Harvre

The Beast. This ship can mantain 23/39 Knt.* That's enough to catch any BB5 and hit their fat asses with 16 barrels of 13.4"/45 cal Model 1912 guns. For more range, speed and some AW capability you can use Danton EBB guns, but I think this ship is made for terror quads. It has 7 support slots.

EBB3.5(84) Strasbourg'38

This is one of my favourite ships. Compared to the normal Strass it's a bit slower (25/42) bit it has a nice paintjob, and more place for a better FCS. With BB FCS III you have reasonable chance to hit the enemy with all your shells, and by two well aimed salvo it's possible to sink any BB1-3 and cripple the bigger ones. The third executes any ship in the game. For T slots still HH is the best option. It has 8 support slots but there's only 4 slots on the ship.

EBB4(96) Clemenceau

It's basically a Richellieu with one more support slot. I don't have it so I don't know what's the speedcap for it, but as I've seen so far, it used to go by 26/44 Knt. It has a plenty slots for secondary armament. Some HH is aways usefull. Since Richie is a good ship Clemenceau should be also nice.

EBB4.5(99) Jean Bart

It's a Richellieu but like all other EBB5 it can mount BB5 clone guns. In this case they are the 18.89"/45 cal Model 1941 quads from Alsace. The playstyle is similar to the Stass('38) but this ship is bigger, slower (24/40) and its shells have longer hangtime. Consider that Jean Bart is also a bigger threat so, you'll be never ignored by your enemy and this ship is quite fragile so don't rush like headless chickens! It has only 7 support slots like Richellieu.

EBB5(113) Thermidor

Compared to the BB5 Alsace it has a longer, but narrower hull and one more support slot. This ship didn't get a special gunset, but it got some accuracy buff. It misses its two big T slots  from the sides, but as I see only a very few players use AA on MN Battleships so it's not a great problem.

ECV1(71) Bearn'44

It has a few more planes and one more (7) support slot  compared to normal Bearn. It also has the ability to launch one more plane (8), so it makes the grind a little easier.

ECV2(87) Joffre'43

It also has a few more planes and one more support slot (8) compared to it's normal counterpart, like Bearn, but Joffre('43) can't launch more planes than the Joffre without zebra paintjob. I don't have it because I think it doesn't worth the coupon or medals.

PCV(100) Daladier

It's the copy of the KM Hindenburg. It has 10 huge R slots so in case of close combat it's not defenceless. So anyway, like all PCV it's rather a CV5.5 so if you used to play with carriers, sooner or later you'll need it. I already have it, but I couldn't try it, because my pilots aren't lvl100 yet.

5.1"/45 Model 1932 duals and quads

Theres only a little diference between the names of 5.1"/45 Model 1932 premium guns and the 5.1"/45 cal Model 1932 which is confusing. Premium versions are heavier but they have better muzzle velocity, shorter reload time. As I know only Gamelin, Mandel, Dunkerque, and Daladier can be equipped with these guns.

*According to ErwinJA it's possible to reach even 24/40.

Fell free to send me a pm if you notice any inaccuracy, typo or grammatical error. Also if you have additional information about the ships that I don't have yet, (Gamelin, Provence, Clemenceau, or Joffre('43)) please help me complete this post.

The Jean Bart's guns don't get an accuracy buff compared to the Alsace. It was the Thermidor's 115 guns that got that. As such, the Jean Bart is something of a joke. Too slow to rush, but spread, range, and lack of a rear turret are bad enough to make it a lackluster defensive ship as well. The only thing it does all that well is die.

Le Havre can go 40 with quads. You have to work a bit for it, but it's fairly easily achieved.

Thanks for your remarks!

In my oppinion JB isn't a bad ship. In WaW it's a real pain to play with that, but in GB rooms it can perform well. Otherwise Strass('38) is a much better choice if you want to have some frontal gun fun. JB is only for collectors like me.

I didn't try to achieve 40 Knt. with Le Havre. I think with some skeletons it would be possible for me, but I like to have a huge bulge and I think 120 bulge for 1 Knt. is a fair trade.

We seem to be largely in agreement: the JB is a ship for collectors, not even that great as a "fun" ship because it doesn't provide anything novel, and what it does provide is done better by the PBB and 2 other EBBs.
As for where it's good, I'd argue the reverse. Boosted reload and speed allow the Jean Bart to cover its main weaknesses in WaW, assuming a good crew. The problem is in GB and line fighting, where the ship is out ranged by most ships in its tier, has among the lowest observed damage ouputs (factoring in how many shells hit on average, damage per shell, etc), and isn't even fast enough to run away, let alone rush.
True, it can hold its own if played well, but if played slightly below well, it just dies. The average player will get frustrated with it quite easily.

Of course, I was not a fan of the Stras or Rich either, but I found that the JB took everything I disliked about those and went even further without really compensating. If it DID get even a modest accuracy buff, or the ability to reach 42+ knots, I'd think much more highly of it. Of course, the Shinano is the only no-brainer acquisition in the entire EBB4.5 tier, with the Leo being a distant second. The rest are all "meh," but the JB is without a doubt the worst of the bunch, followed by the Missouri. Of course, with the Le Havre and Thermidor, MN has nothing to complain about with EBBs.

Dragon_Boats

the differnt systems and mixed numbering can (and does) confuse many people ...

the way i class them is by order ... regardless of hulls/guns/etc ... simple straight count ...

lets review .... 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 .... simple enough .. and something we all know

====================

EBB1 (50) Danton
EBB2 (xx) . . . . . . . . . .  ..(*)
EBB3.2 (74) Le Harvre ..(*)
EBB3.1 (75) Provence ..(*)
EBB4 (84) Strasbourg'38
EBB5 (96) Clemenceau
EBB6 (99) Jean Bart
EBB7 (113) Thermidor
EBB8 (115) . . . ? ? ? . . .

ECV1 (71) Bearn'44
ECV2 (87) Joffre'43

... the same straight forward numbering 1-7(8) holds true for the other nations as well(*)

so far each nation has a total of 7 EBB's released (8th in testing ??) .. .. and each has 2 ECV's
and there are some consistient common denominators :

there is a lower ECV(1) and a higher ECV(2) for each
the not-yet-released-EBB8's will all be @ lvl 115ish
the EBB7's are all level 113ish
the EBB6's are all level 99ish
the EBB5's are all level 96ish
the EBB4-3*-2-1's are in order by lvls .. (*)
======
(*) .. with the exceptions being SN and MN ...
.. * .. MN has no EBB2 - instead it has 2x EBB3's .. provence 3.1 .. and .. le havre 3.2 ..
.. * .. SN also has 2x EBB3's .. poltava 3.1 .. and .. izmail 3.2 - but it then has no EBB6(99)

It should be noted, since it hasn't been stated already, that the Thermidor has received a major nerf. It is now difficult to get 42 knots with 3 guns, and pretty much impossible to get 44. It caps at 45 with 2 turrets, and cannot go faster. It also loses knots slightly more quickly even before factoring in the extra crew.

Thermidor decisions should now be based on it being no better than an Alsace - the slight accuracy buff countering the slight speed nerf and size increase.
