Hi eveyone.

I was just thinking about how could we help to keep this game alive, and i came up with this idea: what if we crowdfund a new game engine for NF.

We all know NF needs a more recent game engine for various reasons: provide better graphics, what would make the game more atractive for new players and more pleasant for old ones, would reduce crash and compatibility problems, and bring opportunity for future upgrades.

But we all also know that SDenterNET shows little or no interest in continue investiments for developing this game, because NF2 is a priority for them.

So, i think NF community could take an more active role in the development of this game, by crowdfunding de desired upgrades.

There are several games that were funded by this method and it works fine.

with a great support of NF community we could take this sugestion to SDenterNET and make it happen.

What do you think about this idea?

Somehow I get the feeling NF doesn't earn as much as they would like, but not enough to let it go.

Good idea, how realistic is it though? Wouldn't you run into funding problems just as they may have?

Well... this game just a tad below decent but there needs to be others to run this game instead of korea.

SDE needs to be the ones to do this, and when they're working on NF2 now I wouldnt expect them to do something so resource intensive as rebuild the game engine, that's the sort of effort a sequal is the opportunity for.

Another issue is that, as far as I'm aware, crowdfunding is not a concept that has been popularised throughout Korea or other Asian regions yet as it has in places like the US where it originated. Of the 4,400 successful Kickstarter games, only 15 are Japanese, 5 are Chinese and 2 are Korean, as an example. That's 0.5% of the games from US based Kickstarter, and crowdfunding as a concept was only so greatly popularised as it is now in 2012. Asia needs more local crowdfunding organisations for the idea to really truly spread and be considered, and even then it would be up to SDE to do something about it, which I think is unlikely since they are partnered with Nexon now.

In the crowdfunding system the amount of money needed to undertake a project is pre defined, and If the pre defined value is not reached, the money just return to their owners and the project is not undertaken. So, funding problems can be easily avoided if the pre definition of funds is well made. The point is just if they get enough funds or not.

I don't think SDE is really the problem. NF is a bit outdated in terms of graphics and compatibility and now have poor comercial value, i think. Thats why there are low interest to invest in this game, from SDE and probably from others too, IMO. Maybe our active participation is the only way to NF survive in the long term.

Well, it is resource intensive as you said, but that's why crowdfunding could help. SDE could continue investing their own funds on NF2, and NF community provides the funds for the new NF game engine. The NF sequel (NF2) could have been a good "update" for this game, but it's actually a totally new game, with many differences in gameplay. It was made for a new generation of gamers as they said, and there will be no tranference of accounts from NF to NF2.

Altough crowdfunding is not yet popularised in Korea, NF community is world wide, so it wouldn't be a big issue. If there were 2 Korean games crowdfunded, it means that it is really possible. Maybe NF could just be the 3th.

I don't see how tha pertnership with NEXON can be an obstacle.

This game is already well known and are long time players from all around the world, so i think crowdfunding is a real possibillity.

Of course it's up to SDE to undertake or not this project i suggest, but first this idea have to reach them, and for that is needed community support.

NF earn much, how do u think SDE funded NF2 development and marketing?

But their hardhead won't accept that NF2 won't be a good game.

I like the idea, I dont have the problem with the current graphics, only their limited code to incoporate new developments.
